Ah, so it is the same in other countries. That's sad. Corrupt OPEC bastards! Taw, the prices do fall (kind of); yesterday, LPG was $27.5c a litre, and now it's $31.9c a litre. It makes you wish we had solar-powered cars at a time like this...

@Taw, good luck on the red diesel. Here in the US, that's strictly for off road, IE construction, and if you get caught with it in a regular vehicle, there is a hefty fine involved. Here Diesel is about the same price as mid grade gas. So there is not as much a saveings over gas.

Tax- Ga has the lowest tax on gas. Fed and state tax is .25 on every gallon of gas. Other states thoug , are a good bit higher

Even if diesel were priced the same as gasoline, wouldn't you still save money from the better efficiency of a diesel engine?

Post Sun Mar 21, 2004 8:36 pm

Correct Indy. Diesel engines are far more efficient than petrol engines. Pity they're so gutless, i'd never have a diesel without a turbo attached.

Pity they're so gutless...
What do you mean? Do they provide less "power" (for want of a better term) than petrol?

Post Sun Mar 21, 2004 9:34 pm

Yup petrol engines generally generate 25% more power than a same sized diesel engine. Though diesels will still produce similar if not more torque, combined with a there indestructability, it makes them perfect for 4x4's.

Solar?? Gimme fusion anyday!!!

i too ave noticed the skyrocketing prices of fuel, even though im only 15!!!
around here in brissie(Brisbane, for thouse who dont know, im in the same country as esquie and mustang here) it seems to fluctuate betwen 83-94 cents per litre, with the occasional extremes of 70 and 100 cents per litre. not that i really matters to me, on the averace weekend, i spen 40% of the 24-hour period sleeping, and the rest sitting on the computer or watching movies. chool days go about 30% sleep, 10% computer, and the rest, forced attendance and a place with no girl and non-commpassive friends, so long as i have some sounce of 240V AC power im happy

Small things entertain small minds, while smaller minds look on in wonder.

Screw temporal paradox, im interfering!

I dread the day that I loose my internal combustion engine to the greenies, I mean who really wants to hear the pissy whiz of an electric motor when they plant their foot. If an electric car gave of a sound like a lightning bolt and electricuted anyone in a 20 meter radius, then I might be interested.

That's easy Mustang, just get a group of people to stand in a large puddle, and then use the water as the local earth!
