Warhammer!!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Warhammer!!

I was just wondering if any of the people here have played it, heard of it, whatever. I'm thinking about starting, but I don't really know what army to play. I was thinking about Space Marines, just because they're coolish and strong but few in number and stuff. Sooo, if anyone has suggestions about what I should choose, fire away!

EDIT: Chiggy, you should know better than to put emoticons in the subject line.

I have heard of it, one of my friends is a avid collector of the thing, and while he says its a great hobby, and i must admit the figures look exquisite. It never really got my attention, maybe its just because I really cant find time to go to the clubs it requires, though I must admit it is a nice idea, collecting a army of figures, building a keep, and then taking it to a club over a massive table of sweeping hills and forests and stuff. But I guess it never really grabbed my attention no idea why

I play warhammer and I really enjoy it. I collect space marines
myself, although my favorite army is the imperial guard. Im not
gonna suggest what you should get, but you should check out
all the armies and decide what you like best. But before you go
out and buy rulebooks or anything I suggest you wait for the fourth
edition or the game to arrive, I dont know when though. If you live
near a GW store and ask real nicely mabye they might tell you.

Heard of but haven't played.

Yeah, I've played it. It's fun but if you're not passionate about it, you'll get tired of it. If you are gonna play it, take Bretonian Cavalry, Imperial Crossbows, and some Flaggelants, just in case

Careful what you wish... You just might get it.

My Brothers friend plays it and he has to paint all the models himself i'd never have the patience to do that

Wow! you like the Imperial guard!!!
thats what i used to collect!
great for masses of infantry with cool tanks!
rock on!
ne ways, to the original poster
I rekon you shouldgo for wotever preference you have,
if you like masses of infantry wid cool tanks (namely the leman russ, chimera and basilisk - man they saved my army more than once!) - Imperial Guard
If you like cool looking armor with a fair amor rating Eldar
Cool, genetically enhanced warriors with power armor and a nice tank caled the land raider - Space marines
Masses of little beats with several big beasts mixed in for blasting big holes in tanks - Tyranids

Then of course theres the sisters of battle, basically female space marines!
and the new Tau fire warriors, they came out after i stopped collecting so i don't know about them, they look like alien versions of the space marines.

In space, no one can hear you scream!

Heltak,

im very sorry but...

my army of over 200 Tau Fire warriors, lead by three Etherals, and with the support of five Hammerheads, and ten Broadside Battlesuits, protecting couple Crisis Battlesuits and O'Shovah... i think you are outgunned, and outmaned.
I forgott mention my Manta?

You know what actually sounds pretty interesting? Just collecting the armies seems to be a nice hobby in and of itself, although if i heard correctly you need to find someone to make them look really cool, in other words a professional figure painting guy. Since your buy them in their die cast metal form right? I also heard theres a whole series of Warhammer with removal and attachable weapons and armor which sounds kind of fun.

Forget to mention Fire Warriors didn't exist in 1984?

I'd love to see that squad actually attempt to ENTER a Hive Ship, it'd get owned, never mind the Tyranid guards what about the actual ship itself...

Plus I like to use an idea of mine I don't see much, planetary sieges, ie say a small fleet PLUS a large ground battle, I allow modded tank-like things to have the ability to hit the space farers but that can be good or bad depending on cirumstances since a) ships don't move b) hitting is random c) the ships come down almost straight

All my friends are into it, but to me it costs too much money $50 frikn' bucks for a book with 3 color pics and 100 pgs, I do think they're sool though, one of my friends made a light saber for his chaos marines, it was pretty cool,

Any body Play the LOTR version, I know a few ppl into that too.

I had a super Ego, but it was pestering me so I killed it.

When I shot it the bullet grazed my soul, and that bled to death too
