K-PAX

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

K-PAX

Q1) Who's seen this film?

Q2) Who likes this film?

Q3) Do you think he's an alien or not?

A1) If you've seen the film, ignore this bit! Here's the story:
A man appears from the middle of nowhere in a Metro(?) station in Manhattan, New York, and a beggar spots him. An old lady gets robbed, and this 'man' (Kevin Spacey) helps her up. As the police rush over to the lady, they handcuff this 'man' and ask him where is his luggage? he replies with I do not require luggage, and that "Your planet is very bright!" The next time we see this 'man' he is at the Psychiatric Institute of Manhattan, and is being seen by Doctor Mark Powell (Jeff Bridges).

This 'man' introduces himself as Prot (pronounced Prowt), from the Planet K-PAX, orbiting a binary star system in the constellation Lira, around the stars Agape and Ohtori. He explains that he travelled to earth on a beam of light, but much faster than the speed of light. Doctor Mark Powell is a bit skeptical (as you would be!) and asks him if he's heard of Einstein, who (quoting Mark Powell) "said that nothing could travel at the speed of light". Prot explains that what Einstein actually said was that "nothing could accelerate to the speed of light, or it's mass would become infinite. But he never said anything about entities already travelling at the speed of light, or faster, say at, tachyon speeds."

A story ensues and Prot near enough convinces Mark Powell that he is from the Planet K-PAX, and that he is beaming back to K-PAX on July 27th at 5:51 AM (Eastern Time). Putting two and two together, Mark Powell listens to his pre-recorded notes on tape and realises that this Prot arrived on Earth on July 27th, 1996. This means that something happened to the consciousness of Prot's body on that date, and Mark Powell has to find out what it is before that date...

A2) It's hard not to like this film!

A3) In my opinion he is, but that'd be bordering on a spoiler...

Saw it last year, was highly sceptical about wanting to see it, but remember it being a much more entertaining film than i thought it would be, it was actually good. however, i don't remember anything now, which either means i was drunk when watching it, or that it was nothing more profound than just a good movie

1) Me.

2) Me.

3) No. Simply because the movie is more interesting this way. Although the extra material on the dvd is supposed to confirm he's an alien.

1 honest reply................and the rest is spam
What a thread.........oh wait - this is off topic, turns out the thread isn't doing too badly if this is the off topic forum.........usually a 30:1 ratio of spam to serious

@chips yet again you wrote a spam post to mention the number of spam in this thread...ingenious

OT: I haven't seen the movie yet, but I keep meaning to rent it. I love Kevin Spacey, he really is the daddy as far as I'm concerned....hmmm well maybe not the daddy, but definitely the great-uncle

I really have to see that movie. Actually, there are a lot of movies that I have to see.

Return of the King is probably on top of my list of Must-See movies!

Apparently, ROTK will be released in May. The SE Edition will still come out in December though .
