What''s your favourite sports team for...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Me Bro has forced me into a Tottenham FC fan, though to be honest I couldn't give a rats for football/soccer

Don't really care for Rugby either, though I guess I better throw my towel in with the wallibies

Australia, how can I not. Since the downfall of the windies we've been fielding arguably the best team in the world. Though the Indians are looking bloody good at the moment.

As for the last three I could barely name any of the teams. Actually i'll have a go at that:

American Football
Dallas Cowboys

Basketball
Boston Celtics

Baseball
Atlanta Braves

How'd I do?

EDIT: how uncanny is that, I didn't even see your post Finalday and I picked two of the same teams. Wierd.

hehe - I think i will be the ONLY person who will say:

Soccer (its football, it was called football way before american football - so i really don't know how you guys got it so wrong ), well, when young it was Liverpool FC, however:

Football is dull, and i hate the supporters.....not ALL of them, just the ones you tend to meet unfortunately in pubs and city centers....the ones that are violent, unreasonable, hostile and violent again for no reason. Is it alcohol? nope - two tried to attack me once as i left a club for no reason (guess what, i think supporters should be banned from some pubs, and herded into designated ones with cattleprods!)

Rugby - no offense, but it just holds no interest. Dunno why....lol

Cricket - sooooooooooo boring. Too slow by half

Okay - american games........"football" (surely foot and ball means ball connected to feet to play?) - erm - huh? Sorry to dull

Basket Ball- much better - faster paced.......still boring

Baseball - erm, huh? See cricket.........although i did watch it for a while, and know the rules and stuff (so i understand whats going on compared to AF) but still too slow.

Guess what? I don't like sports like those . no - i aint fat, I was the school champ at most track and field events........and my fav sports are the ones i partake in (martial arts....Tae Kwon Do, Kickboxing.....have tried some others....but must admit, since i went to uni I ran out of time to keep up with them, so i haven't been partaking in some violence for some time ). It just doesn't appeal. No idea why - could be the supporters for rugby and football (in fact, most likely )...but i am not convinced either . I am not that competative.....and i did use to play football, cricket and rugby (actaully - i was really good at cricket and rugby when nice and young ) so its not cause i never played them, i just find them to dull as a spectator sport. I think that is the main thing.....do or do not - don't sit and watch!

*cough* EXCUSE ME!!! *cough* do NOT mark rugby supporters with the same nasty brush as football supporters! Rugby supporters don't experience the sort of violence/hatred/stupidity that you see in the football terraces. The two most opposed counties in Rugby are Lancashire and Yorkshire, and I have never experienced anything worse than friendly banter. My best mate supports Leeds (Yorks), I support Wigan (Lancs), and we have been to several games together, standing side by side in the terraces with opposing colours on - we've never even had a person double-take us. Rugby terraces have lots of women on them, tend to be full of families and young children, they aren't over-crowded and the atmosphere is always great.

I hate idiot football supporters too, so I really resent having rugby dragged into the same pit as them. grrr.

@ Grom - lol, my mate played rugby alot - big fan and player as well. Its just that when i was about 18 we used to go to the pub with them.......it was a good laugh, but last time i went back he was "diving" into the waiting crowd from the fag machine in the local pub.....now it was all friendly - but the families all quicly left the scene......

I haven't seen them fighting, but he always ends up in some sort of trouble. Admittedly i haven't really seen many Rugby guys up here in Leeds - cause they all stick near headingly (pubs are massive up there), so its easier around that area. Also - Rugby guys tend not to pile into nightclubs either . Maybe they are more peaceful......alot more peaceful - but ask families around them and they still appear to be drunken, abusive, and overtly overbearing poeple . Fact is that most are just drunk...which means that they shout alot, do big gestures, and their humour is more aggresive (like picking each other up and taking the piss).......but to those families and others its still a threatening environment, so although they might not act, its still not nice to be near them........

Does anyone here prefer Rugby Union? Rugby League is practically unknown in the southern UK and the rest of Europe by and large.

@recusant *spit* naah sorry, league born and bred me.

@chips yeah fair enough, it is true that rugby players do over-drink and more often than not make complete t*ts out of themselves...but as a general rule of thumb, its safe in the grounds and its safe in the pubs that they're in....although the pubs are probably not the right places to take families :p But its certainly not like football...I remember when I was living in derby, there was a derby city vs nottingham football match on (local derby), so to avoid the crowds I went to Pizza Hut with a couple of friends. After the match they tried to seperate the two lots of supporters by diverting them down different streets (again something else you never see with rugby) but accidentally f***ed it up and sent both sets of supporters down the high street....resulting in a massive punch-up outside of aforementioned pizza hut. Something that I found I could live with until two w***ers got thrown through the front window. Nice. Got a refund though so it wasn't all bad
