Painkiller

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Painkiller

You guys play the demo of this game??? I think you can get it off Filefront or something, its supposed to be coming out in march this game is absolutely awesome, Its like Serious Sam but in extremely twisted gloomy disturbing way. Your some dude who died in a car crash and even though you led a modest life you were not admitted into heaven so your stuck in purgatory attempting to stop a massive holy war. Somewhat of a fun storyline, anyway the game is excellent because, unlike almsot every game on the market, out of the 24 levels and 5 boss arenas there is no enemy or texture reusage, that means every level you play has its own enemies and textures. I only played the demo but nonetheless the game is absolutely excellent, in fact, I think I found my favorite weapon of all time, called the Stake Gun. Its like a crossbow that shoots really thick foot long wood stakes at high speeds. Its great, and it uses the Havok 2.0 engine from Max Payne 2 the physics are the best i have ever seen. You guys should give it a shot

PS: the truth here, in the demo, there was a undead guy about to throw one of his innards at me (they use their organs as projectiles, you can tell this game is rated M) he lifts his hand up, I fire a stake at it and attach it to a swinging hotel sign above him as the sign and his body slighlty rocks back and forth

Bah! From all accounts it is another Quake-clone with elements of Doom thrown in.

Nonetheless a very good clone, besides I never played Doom or Quake so im all good with it

I checked it out about a week ago, I quite enjoyed the first level but the next two turned me off. It was a bit to much like serious sam for my tastes.

its evil...very evil, yet slightly satisfying pinning some undead mother ****er to a wall.
so top marks for short term fun. however, i doubt it'll be purchased by me on the fact that its just not got enough content to grip me. I think i might have played 90% of the game in the demo

Well for some reason lately I have been quite into the short-term games...... I didnt exactly like Serious Sam very much so this is the next best thing. I always love involved Stealth games and deep rpg's but lately I just wanna play some quick fun games so this was a nice change. The second level in the demo i absolutely love though, i play Dark Age Of Camelot and in that game much of the knights and armsmen actually look like those knights that assault you throughout the whole level, so it was loads of fun to imagine myself in DAOC with a stake gun hehehehehe. I guess its not for everyone im just impressed with it. I also like the Havok 2.0 engine now so ill buy any game i can find with it hehehehe.

Try Red Faction and Red faction II, both are kindof fast. Red II is a lot different than Red I. But both are fun.

I have RF, but it was WAY too short. What's different about RF 2, and how long is it?

Just wait until Half-Life 2 to get a BRILLIANT physics engine.
Also, Painkiller is due to be released when HL2 and Doom 3 are to be released, threatning to slip between the customary "gamer's radar" which most gamers have for good games.
And yes, I have played the demo, It was okay.

I'd (personally) wait for Half-Life 2 to spend my money on ...
And yes, I can see you saying "Bah, what a Humbug !"

Actually its supposed to be out this month.. and really to be completely honest money isnt a problem, so before i save up and get Half Life I would probably get all three games. But it uses HL2's physics engine so that game will probably be brilliant. If its anything like HL1 though I wont like it since I really hated the original, thus I dont like CounterStrike either. Ill still buy HL2 but as i said if its anything like 1 it probably wont be my game of choice.
