Autogyros were around well before and for a time were quite a anovelty. Invented by a Spanish? guy named Cierva. German submarines used them for spotting, radio relay, weather reporting etc. Got popular again in the late '50s for fun flying as they can be used from very short grass or dirt runways and can land almost vertically, and they're really cheap to build. They got really famous in the 60s 'cos of Bond.

All I know is that the History Channel did a whole special on them. You could find that and it could help you out. Taw pretty much said all I know off the top of my head.

We could have done our own research, but I decided to tolk to some of inteligent people here on TLR (does not include you pSY), as any extra information can be usefull. But as it seems, too many people here are bellow mature level of understanding, so I will not waste my time with with people like you, and will concetrate more on people that do know.
