ff, sites offering credit cards are legion. there are adverts for them on the MSN front page, you must have seen those.

problem is, your employment status. You're prob better off having a word with your bank as a credit card provider, most banks offer this facility. If you do manage to get one from another source, it will prob have a low credit limit and high interest rates to compensate for risk.

I agree with Taw, don't touch credit cards until you've covered all of your options. Your best bet is to grit your teeth and talk to your bank....trust me, I got into serious debt 5 years ago (we're talking several growling baillifs, loan sharks, the lot)...it took me a long time to climb out of it and I still have bad credit now (your credit doesn't reset for 7 years). Trust me when I say that playing with credit cards is like playing with fire...don't just get one to buy a boy toy...you may regret it.

I wouldn't get one ff. They are nothing but trouble. I've never had one, as I hate being in debt, but I have a "Debit Credit Card" which has credit card-like features, but ensures that I never go into debt. If you're going to get a "Visa card", I hope that you have a steady income stream to pay it off.

ff though Cards are a nessisity these days, they ARE a trap. I had 5 different cards with a total debt of $19,000, yes $19,000. It took me 4 years to pay them off. When I finnished, I had paid with intrest, $26,000. I learned the hard way. Its like paying for a car, but not having it
