This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Dark Place - Dark Place - Dark Place

hehe - okay, its about Garth Merengies "Dark Place" - channel 4, thursday nights. Anyone else seen this spoof yet? Its fairly funny, but getting alot better as well.

For those not english, or that just haven't seen it yet:

Its a spoof hospital drama, that was "supposedly" written and made in the 1980's (obviuosly made recently). The story is that it was "banned" from being shown on TV, and only now is aloud to be seen. Its a complete piss take of 1980's TV perfectly to be honest.

Plot is around the 3 doctors and their manager, set in the hospital:

Main Guy (Garth Merengie)- kinda "action" doc.
Other doctor (male), kinda fake tan, gold earing, quiffed hair, voice of 80's perfection!!

Female doctor: Useless woman, with mindreading powers.

Hospital Boss - 100% wooden acting and lack of any acting skills.

Its of course all on purpose - and its funny........
The first one I didn't really appreciate much - but last nights had a massive dose of cheese, comedy, and weird storylines. All the way from the fight scenes, doctor having a gun in pocket, and the fact that his sun was "half grasshopper" - basically - you just have got to watch an episode (*make it 2 at least, give it a chance ) to understand what i am drivelling on about.

Funny stuff.

Channel 4 10.30PM Thursday Nights.

Yeah I saw it last night too. I felt the gags were a bit thin on the ground but then seeing as I wasn't even born till half-way though the 80s perhaps I missed some of the in-jokes. Isn't it a spoof of some wierd Swedish hospital horror movie? I can't fully recall it, but there were quite a few similarities.

Yeah, it's brilliant. Why the hell would it be banned though. No swearing, no nudity (although I've only seen one episode), it's not even that weird.
I saw last night's episode (Skipper's death is clouded in mystery. All we know is that it involved a big hop, and the blades of a helicopter).

LONG LIVE THE EVIL SEXOFFENDER MUTANT EYE CHILD!!!!!!!!

I'm making record time!
If only I had someplace to be...

The whole thing is strange humour. Its totally fabricated (obviuosly filmed about 10 weeks ago sort of thing).

It takes a large swipe at TV shows/acting in the 80's - so its near spot on - but over done, on that part.

Its a total spoof - so yes, he introduces it, talks about it a little etc etc, all to add "reality" to the idea that it is old etc.

basically - its marketed a bit like blair witch was marketed (blair witch being a scary movie that was marketed as real life docu footage of missing poeple kinda thing. This is "marketed" as being an old show that was banned. Its got its tongue firmly in cheek

So - if your expecting to see slick storylines, subtle plots, good acting, fit women, and many more things - forget it. Its a comedy based upon 80's tv genre and storylines etc. The content is irrelvenent - its just added humour, as its the kinda thing that was around back then - weird goings on etc.

You have to sit back, and not take a damned thing seriuosly - don't even concentrate else you will think "this is stupid and crap". its not like Mr Bean silly, but it is like red dwarf seires 1 naffness for sets, and like a porn movie for acting ability. The content is like dire channel 4 70's horror program.

basically its utter b****** and funny as well. The lines, the moves, the actions, the acting, the comments, the script - its all funny as hell - cause they are so bad. Now - if that doesn't sound like a reason NOT to watch it, i don't know what does. Seriously - you gotta give it a go
