<said many times before> i am allergic but i still don't know what my symptoms are, it seems as if i dont even have symtoms; the only problem i have with my cat is that she sleeps on me and comes up to my face (i dont like the fact of hair on my face) ugh, i had a sleepover and was literally covered in dog and cat hair when i went home (thats what really grosses me out)

i love cats too, they are wonderfull
i think that de-clawing should be a
punishable offence, punishable by
the removal of the fingers
my cat can cure cat-allergies, for
instance my friend (real) was highly
allergic, but he came over, endured
the symptoms and in the morning
he was MUCH less allergic, just the
occasional sneeze

I'm not overly into de-clawing cats either, but since that time she (da cat) has been much more loveable. Except for like 2 years after the procedure she was mad at us.

It was eithar the claws went or the cat went. We got new furniture, partle because of the claw damage in the old. When faced with that choice what does one do...

De-clawing is just as cruel and as people who crop their dogs tails. It's a completely useless practice that has no practical purpose, and isn't even aesthetically pleasing. They are even some people who try to do it at home for free with a pair of scissors, and the puppies end up with mangled tails and have to go to the Vet. People who do that should be shot.

@ Warlord Bob
You can just get a scratching post for your cat, or even just a plank! The cat will sharpen its claws there and will be much happier to use that than soft furniture which doesn't do the job properly for the cat. Cats not only need their claws to do their hunting (a major instinct for every cat), but also to provide them with the grip needed to clamber up a fence and also it allows the cat to scratch itself properly. On top of that,( I assume you're at least nice enough to your pet to let it out from time to time) when your cat gets into a fight with another one, it doesn't help to have nothing to use but teeth. Cats literally try to disembowel each other when they fight, and you've left your cat defenceless.

Not this cat. Clawing the furniture was an obsession. We tried everything in the book, but no avail.

As for defenceless, she has gotten lazy in her old age and I doubt she can get out of the back yard. While there, she is protected by the dog, who could care less about our cat but chaces anything else with legs and some things without. However, on one ocasion where she was in the front yard (fence being built) the neighbors Akita got out and gave her a scare. Claws or not, she didn't seem to have too much trouble climbing the big Arizona Ash tree. (I was right there, standing between them, yelling at this dog nearly as big as I am... nobody messes with my kitty )

a friend of mine has a cat just like it, only this one jumps up on your shoulder, sits there for a while like a parrot, then lies down on your shoulders and goes to sleep

must be realted to ours then because thats exactly what she does, to everyone. i often walk around the house with the cat glued to my shoulders.
