Formatting to NTFS

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Formatting to NTFS

ok you guys, your mission if you accept it is to tell me
how to format a FAT32 drive to NTFS, i was on longorn
and i got a HUGE error message, telling me that longhorn
will no longer be able to function on a FAT32 drive, suggestions?

From what I just read Longhorn will still "support" Fat and Fat32 but the operating system itself will need to reside on NTFS. There's talk of a new service that will sit on the NTFS file system called Winfs. It's similar to a database in concept. Faster seek times is the result.

YES i know, i will work on FAT but it needs to reside on
a NTFS HDD to be able to use the "winfs" file system
thats why i am asking, how to format a drive to NTFS
Jeeeez are you thick today?

You can take your HDD to someone with WinXP, open Command Prompt and type
Convert <Driveletter> /FS:NTFS
You can open Command Prompt by going Start -> Run -> cmd.exe, or Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt

Careful what you wish... You just might get it.

ooo that's a bit flash! trust Chet to do it the smart way..

alternatively you can do it the donkey way, AoD. make your CD-rom the boot device, stick an xp cd in, and reboot. foolow the prompts until you get to the format screen and you will get a choice to format the FAT32 partition to NTFS. don't choose NTFS (quick), choose the full NTFS option.

you could also, before this, choose to delete the existing partition then create a new partition in the unpartitioned space now created. then NTFS it normally. don't worry it's a piece of p*ss, you can do it in your sleep with one hand tied behind your back
