Korsun Pocket

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Korsun Pocket

So I found this game, Korsun Pocket in the $5 bin. It looks like it was opened already but everything seems to be in it and the CD looks unblemished, even with a magnifying glass. It's by SSG. So I bought it. Now I have buyer's remorse (for $5!!! )

The reviews I've found are favorable but of the one's I've read, none are over the top enthusiastic about it.

Anyone out there ever play this game? The copyright is for 2003 so part of my remorse is in wondering how it got into the $5 bin so quickly.....

Thanks Fd.

I've seen this site. All the high ratings (note they are for its class, not generally as a game) really don't tell me anything, I've learned. Hmmmm. maybe the $5 bin was a mistake? Still not sure.

if you're deeply into strategy and historical accuracy, and don't mind taking weeks of turn based play, then you'll prob like it. i like SSI stuff because of the depth of research into it, and i rarely have the time now to get stuck into anything too much quicker (due to Ebay-inspired computer piracy) But if you like your wargames a little less "dry" then this isn't for you; let me have it

Oh. One of those? I used to play the old Avalon Hill battle games, took hours to set-up much less play. Hmmmm. I'll give it a shot but my attention span nor my actual idle time ain't what it used to be.

i used to play Panzer General, Steel Panthers and Eastern Front, stuff like that, a lot some years ago. I find the depth of these games a lot more satisfying than most RTS, with the notable exception of Total War*, in which you can see tactics translate to 3d action instead of the usual melee of most RTS, and of course TWs still have a worthy turn-based strategy section.

* and possibly Sudden Strike

OK. It's installed. Now to look at the documentation..... brings back memories though. I'll let you know if I want to keep this thing. If you're serious about wanting it if'n I'm not innerested any more, let me konw.
