farscape

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Farscape got cut by the sci-fi channel. From what I've heard, they had a choice between continuing Farscape or the Stargate series, they decided that farscape wasn't getting enough viewers and pulled the plug on the whole show. if you ask me, stargate has been getting pretty stale for a long time, while farscape had a wealth of new ideas, especially with all the mind games that went on with crichton and scorpio in his head. I'm really 'frelled' off now!

I really don't know what's so good about Stargate. Costume is awful, acting is awful, plot is awful, special effects are awful. Some pretty people and occasional nudity there, but that's about it. There's nothing good left from the original Stargate movie. Farscape, on the other hand, almost won an Emmy. I don't follow Farscape, and Star Trek will always be my first love on sci-fi, but Farscape is definitely a strong second. It did not deserve this fate.

Stargate's a funny one...a close friend of mine has been addicted to it for what feels like a couple of years now. I could never see what he saw in it...I loved the film and I hated seeing MacGuyver in the leading role. However! I was ill for a week about a month ago and I sat at home and watched 2 series of Stargate repeats out of sheer boredom....!....and now I'm completely hooked to it! Its crap! Its tacky! The scripts are awful, the acting's terrible! BUT I'M HOOKED!! Its like Knight Rider Syndrome, also known as A-Team-itis, its just compulsive ****!

Anyway, thought I'd better speak up and defend it as its been my stable tv diet for the last month.

As far as Farscape's concerned....I loved it. I was completely hooked on that since Day 1. Its a shame they've canned it....it was a different Sci-Fi....which makes a real change. I think it would have been even more popular in the UK if they hadn't thrown it off BBC2....I only ever catch it occasionally nowadays, late night repeat showings on the "Sci-Fi Channel". Shame.

i watched the last episode, chriton goes home,
then to save earth he blasts away through a
wormhole again and then him and the woman
(cant remember name) go to a nice water planet
where they both get shot by a bounty hunter
and dissolve

yeah apparently they wouldn't even fund a last series to polish it off and give it a decent ending, that was supposed to be a cliff-hanger for the end of that particular series. Whatever it was that killed them in the boat is totally unkown, it might be a bounty hunter or it might have been a new addition to the farscape storyline, but now we'll never know

A bit of useless trivia:
In almost every episode the director (I think) puts himself in a scene (as background). Usually he is talking to one of the techs from the room where they overlook the stargate. Usually they are holding a ridiculously large wrench.

My mind is full of useless information.
