Rome: Total War

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Rome: Total War

Hi,

Has anyone heard anything about Rome Total War? I really liked Medieval Total War, and Rome TW looks to be even better!
Its like Med TW, but totally 3D, and I can't wait to use the turtle and phalanx formations! Finally, some real hoplite phalanx clashing!
However, I read somewhere that its going to be released in September 2004! Nooo!
Here's the official site
http://www.totalwar.com/community/rome.htm

Anyone got any other information/is excited about it?

Did you catch the T.V series ' Time Commanders '? That used the Rome: Total War engine, making the entire show a preview for the game. According to the latest news, should be out around late 2004....I can't wait!

<-----Mine. Well, not mine, it's copyright of this site, but still...

It moves for me.

Anywho, Im looking forward to R:Total War, I hate RTS games but this one has certainly perked my interest. The level of detail in the screenshots is stunning, Im just hoping the sys specs won't be to high.

I'm am a HUGE fan of the previous 2 games (Shogun and Medieval - also have both expansions). It was origonally supposed to be released Autumn or so 2003 but has been pout back by a year (pity). I remember this because Viking Invasion (M:TW add on) came out just before I went to Borneo and I 'knew' that R:TW was going to come out soon after I got back, so i didn't bother to get it. However, once i found out it had slipped, I bought Viking Invasion

There was a good preview in PCGamer. Apparently the way to scare war elephants is to cover pigs in tar, set them alight and let them run around at the elephants... You learn something new every day! I can see it being triky at first, getting armies to meet, circling round behind them... and just think. When an army has 30 units, it'll have 30 units, not 16 with a load of reinforcements. That will be awesome

i heard the best way to take them down is to send in an elf on a horse.

oh, did you say elephants, i thought you said Mumakil. Anyway, R:TW looks hot. I also have the Collected works of creative assembly, the Shogun: Warlord Edition and the Medieval: Battle Pack. Wonder whats gonna be after rome? maybe the American Civil War?

pah, I don't think so. Face the invincible legions of Tawakalnus Maximus Victor, Imp., PP, Cos., Trib. Pot., PM, Persicus, Arabicus, Gallicus, Germanicus, et Britannicus, and learn the meaning of fear. All shall bow before the iron will of Tawakalnian Rome.

if you best me I shall acknowledge you as a god and be your puppy.
