Anybody know why ... ? Video card fixed, but need help with

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

it's just like being at work you did put the cable on the right way round didn't you with the key line to the power/pin 1? and like my learned friend says, you have got the connectors on the right order if you're using cable select, and jumpered correctly for cable select? if it was working before then this is prob why its not working now.

Esq is right in your screen capture issue, it's just printscreen and then paste the clipboard into another application.

@Esq, thanks, it was the jumper, I forgot to change the smegging jumper. *Thwacks myself* Anyway, all is configured hardware wise, I'm going to take the day and just play games on my new computer, so I can calm myself down of all the computer work I had to do this weekend. Then I'll tackle the networking issue.

@Taw, sorry chum to remind you of work, at least I know what you're talking about and can follow suggestions easily.

yes there is that, the fact that you are quite intelligent does help a lot, and you didn't once say "thingy" or demand an engineer. There's hope for you yet Mind you theres still that dam wireless network to get up and running why do i feel pain coming?

having said that, we are on something of a roll with networks at the moment.

Before I get to networking, there is one hardware question i have left, it is not a problem, just a curiosity. When I opened my new computer and saw the Asus P4P800 mother board, I noticed the 4 RAM slots were colour coded.

blue & black and blue & black I currently only have the first blue one filled with a 512MB. I was just wondering when I buy another 512MB do I put it in the black slot next to my current one, or do I put it in the Blue one so I have a blue pair?

No problem SS! I told you that 99% of IDE problems were caused by jumpers or cables. I like it when my theories turn out to be correct .

In reference to your question; blue. The colour coding is designed to delineate seperate channels. So have two blue, or two black.

believe it or not that simple bit of deduction based on colour coding would escape the vast majority of people, wouldn't it? already sS is in the top 5% of computer users. I'm not being sarcastic, it's painfully true. most people wouldn't even get that far as to ask.

Aye, 'tis true. It's good when people; a) listen, and b) learn from their mistakes. SS would seem to be one of these rare individuals. *Pats SS on the head* Good boy! Run along now!

I wonder what the true percentage of PC users may be of those who actually take the cover off the cpu in the first place? I think it is even less than 5%. No joke. .

PCs are like cars today. You take the car to a mechanic who gives you a lot of bunk about what's wrong with the car when either:

a) It's a cheap simple fix that needs to be puffed up so that a decent profit can be had; or,

b) The mechanic doesn't know what's wrong but wants to use the opportunity to run up charges and learn a little bit for himself.

Don't tell anyone THAT! it's a trade secret!

Yeah, keep it down, will ya? I've got a wife and kids to feed!

Seems to me the problem may lie within your hardware. I would just check over everything twice to ensure that everything is compatible and functioning properly. Have you tried consulting the manufacturer about the problem. I am quite positive they have technicians at the ready. Anyway you have probably tried all this. Just thought I would add it to make sure.
