EVE Online, is it a good game ??

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

EVE Online, is it a good game ??

I've been thinking of getting EVE Online but im not sure if its really that great of a game and worth the payments though it really looks good the graphics at least. So if anyone has any comments on it i would really appreciate it.

I must concur with my esteemed collegues, X2 will give you hours of playtime if you can cope with spending 2-3 hours learning to play. No multiplayer though, but multiplayer sucks anyway.

I haven't played Eve but I hear it's a decent game but nothing special.

but i love multiplayer....mostly cause i spent all my time playing sp on all my games cause of a slow internet connection

EVE take ages to actually get anything done, and i mean DAYS. Its cause you have to "train" your guy to be able to do stuff, so you spend your first three days just going back and forth mining. I never made it past that. It looked very very nice, and apart from the fact that the fighting was crap, i almost started to like it more than FL (*gasp*), but that was probs just cause it was different. However, i had to download 2 updates before i could play, and then i downloaded another 2 within three days. Servers are down once a day for an hour, and i couldn't swap to another one either - so i was "stuck" (*as in i didn't manage to find where i could select another). Add the fact that your first month will consist of trying to get anywhere with your character, and its bloody fustrating.

The fighting method sucks

By the way - if they haven't updated the edition they are selling with the updates, you might have about 100meg of updates to download before playing . It was good, but not worth the money, especially since you couldn't really do much (subspace flight is so bad that you get no-where, and its kinda fustrating). The thing about EVE is that it was probs designed with some form of realism in mind, and due to this it takes bloody ages to do ANYTHING. If i hadn't had to pay for it, then i would probabily still be playing. As it was, i cancelled the payment within 7 days of getting the game, and got refused a refund from the shop (on their 10 days no questions asked money back garuntee - they even refuted the fact that i was not informed about having to dl 30 meg of patches before i could play the game when i only have a 56 k modem (which crashed halfway through).

It might have ended alright - but personally, i think if i was gonna spend that monthly subscription - i would rather play SWG..........

Hey i play eve online and think its a great game! made lots of new friends and most corps when u join give u some starting money and a ship adn they will allow u to hand in it in to get a bigger and better ship. And the ppl in em r genrally a friendly lot who like to help u.

Yes the game is a long term type of game but with the right skills u can cut training time to a matter of minutes on most skills (it took me about half a month so i could do it but it has paid off). Having an broadband connection is also a good idea but it will play on a 56k.

And chips u know that u only needed to download that 30 meg patch once, use a downlaod manager like getright u would haev been fine, after that the patches would haev been 2 meg in size.
