are you guys interested in me at all? i have the feeling not

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Don't worry kimk, I still find this stuff exciting even if there are some naysayers on the forums who think otherwise.

I don't think they'll ever find life on mars, but I believe it possible that they might find that life did exist at some stage of it's existance.

but...you havent said anything? you just did taht thread with the bad links and that was about it. what are you griping about?

Now, is that a way to speak to a respectable veteran?
@kimk: Honestly, I don't expect them to find anything interesting there, but a pleasant surprise would be nice tho. BTW, does the "sob" in your post stand for a word or for an acronym?

look these kak robots aint gonna find life on Mars, and that's that. Even IF they did (which they're not) what's it gonna be? they're not gonna find Martian cities under the sand-dunes, it'll be a few bits of rock that might once have contained microbes. Really conclusive stuff that, and even if it did once have a few primitive bugs, what does that prove? that microbes live elsewehere in the universe? woopy-frickin-doo, gosh thats exciting. It still doesn't prove one way or the other that there's intelligent life in the Universe nor does it mean we can go and live on Mars.

Thank You Tawakalna! Finally someone else has said it! About time!

Space travel will have to crawl before it can walk and run, like everything else.

@Taw

Good ol' curmudgeon you!

Well, you're right though, Mars does not fast forward us to a true "space age" and
it does not reveal any major mysteries about sentient life off-Terra.

But if they DO find microbe fossils or, maybe even something in the order of multiple celled "life," I would find that to be big. Certainly, I believe it may give
cause for some of the more literal minded religionists to rail against the finding.

....Martion amoeba anyone?

Post Mon Jan 26, 2004 1:02 pm

why would religous people rail against finding bugs on mars?

Post Mon Jan 26, 2004 2:02 pm

...and circular "lily pad" tracks were left by Opportunity's airbags
yeah right.

Post Mon Jan 26, 2004 2:38 pm

they could find an entire ecosystem under the sand there, and you know what?
it does'nt change the fact that i still have to pay bills...HERE ON EARTH.
don't get me wrong (especially kimk), i'm always fascinated by nature shows, nova, all kinds of science non-fiction (fiction's more fun though), and i've been spacehappy since i can remember.
but unless something truly amazing/wonderful/apocalyptic, etc. is discovered, is it really necessary to hang on every iota of information nasa slips out? say they do find fossilized microbes up there, what does it change down here?
like i said, i don't intend this reply to be even mildly bashing, and if that's the way it's recieved, then i'm sorry.
but still, what's the big whoop?

Life on Mars? I am sometimes unsure if there is life on Earth!!!!

see? I'm not the only one who thinks it's all a waste of time, resources and effort. And it's not even MY tax money. if it was I'd be chaining myself to the launchers demanding to have my money back..
