25 MB!!!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I think i had to download a 28 meg patch for Eve online when i first bought it. Needless to say i was NOT amused, specially since at that point i had a 56k modem. In fact, i had to download about 3 patches in a week (two were made before i got the game though), at which point i stopped playing the game. I spent more time downloading patches to fix bugs than i played the game (it took about 1.5 hours to download that patch!!)

Maybe due to the fact they had to make the game PLAYABLE in the Gaymespy game rooms for people behind a router.

They are not exactly rare these days. NOLF2 was 28mb, UT2003 was quite large, and even the latest Catalyst driver are 25mb. Everything is getting larger! And remember I'm still on a modem! Can I have some sympathy?

but why SHOULD people be forced to go to broadband? ok its way superior to a modem but everyones being forced down that route to the point where a modem is untenable, but not everyone can actually GET broadband, some times ever and certainly for the foreseeable future. Now i don't actually think Esq lives on a Wombat farm in the Outback, where obviously there'll never be broadband, but even so I find it grossly unfair that people should have to stump up on new kit and new connections just to get patches and fixes for stuff theyve already shelled out for. But developers and publishers just assume people will, and they will, and until YOU stop buying unfinished games and stand up then theyll never stop and it will just get worse. Eventually you'll be downloading the whole game and all youll buy in the shop is a manual and a licence in a pretty case, not even a Cd anymore.

ah. some of you already dload them but just happen to neglect paying for them, you naughty naughty people.

Patch? What is this patch? Should I be interested in downloading it?

Griff - Thanks for that .

Taw - I live in suburban Melbourne, and although ADSL is cheapish, I do not really require BB because I download anything larger than 30meg at work, and then burn it on to a CD-RW. I mean, it would be great to have broadband, but it is not really necessary for all users; ie. me. Still, I have found some cheap plans, and I may adopt BB towards the end of the year when my modem subscription runs out in October. Here's hoping that some obscenely cheap plans come up by October,*crosses fingers*.

@Bob: The patch just balances some stuff and makes some missions easier.
