Homeworld 2

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Homeworld 2

I have been thinking alot about buying this game , the graphics look good and the gameplay is supposed to be excellant. But its a pay monthly game so before i go off to buy this can anybody tell me if it IS worth it. What you can do in multiplayer (example: can you form alliances etc...). If any of you have got the game i would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.

pay per play? Not as far as I know. I have it sittin on my desk and I just need to get around to installing it. I'm a HW fanatic so it wasn't a question of weather or not to buy for me

..and there is multiplayer online

Its not a pay per play ? *mumbles about harming a friend*
So you can play on the net...without monthly charges. Now im relieved.

Can you form alliances and stuff on the net or is it free for all ?

Reilles: I played the game two minutes and 47 seconds ago, on the net and singleplayer; it's not a pay per month/play game, it's only costing you to buy it The graphics are awesome, the handeling is easy, and i suggest you buy it, if you like RTS in space. yes, it aint pay per play, its not a consistant world like those Massively Multiplayer Online RPG's. In MP you just start, the other guys start in different area, its usually 1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3, 4vs4, and you just kill the all other guys production ships to win. I like it, you need to have a good strategy to win, and there is no super units that are unbeatable.

Wowie! Just installed and ran through the tutorial. Bombers are much deadlier now! Before (in HW1) whoever had the most firepower was most often the winner but I sense much strategy here. Only thing I don't like is how the cam pans if you stray near the rdge of the screen.

I've heard that it is supposed to be good. Is it like Star Trek: Armada 2? What about the plot? Does it have a good one?

OK story I suppose, a bit long and hard to get through.

Yeah , i have the demo of it now its pretty cool.

My friend said he was on about a game called Eve which is similar to freelancer (this is the pay to play one).

Its a bit like red alert homeworld 2 is.

5/10 <---Average

I have Homeworld 2, and have been a HUGE fan of homeworld since the first one (and i LOVED Cataclysm even more) so I have it.... its not Pay To Play..... it has single player and multiplayer as usual but you dont gotta pay for anything but the actual game disc. I know I just got back from playing it. As for EvE online, I have that too...... it sucks bad, very very boring game, fun for a while when your exploring and stuff like that, but the combat sucks, and really in the long run its too boring to really be a good game, much of time is spent in Warp travel mode talking to people for lack of doing anything else. It has a nice jukebox feature, but it can only change music in-game, so you cant add your own music or MP3 which sucks too. EvE is fun for people who like to participate in cut-throat financial wars with other players. So if your dream is to become a stock broker or a numerologist, maybe a economic analyst it may be fun. For me? it sucked, combat is a joke, and I have much better and more fun things to do than sit here all day listening to my computer hum at me.

As for space/ scifi MMORPG's (paypermonth) check out Star Wars Galaxies, I just bought it and its a very very good game. Also has a Space expansion coming so not only will it have the usual land-based combat and characters and cities or whatever youll also supposedly be able to own a fighter or a capital ship and take to space.
