Comedy

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Comedy

After much deliberation and thought, I have come to the conclusion that Monty Python has to be one of the best, if not THE best comedy show ever.

Especially such sketches as:
Spanish Inquisition
Dead Parrot
Upperclass Twit Of The Year
Silly Walk

And songs such as:
Every Sperm Is Sacred

Dunno, I like US sitcoms just as much.
But for UK I'd have to go for Allo, Allo , Keeping up Apearences , Aint half hot mum (or something like that), Red Dwarf .
I also anjoyed some episodes of Fawlty Towers, Mr. Bean and Monty Python but not all and MP has been a long time ago since I saw it last.

Edit: Damn spelling.

Search For the holy grail is the best film ever.

Mmm, you must have missed my "Monty Python's Flying Circus" thread. Oh well, if you insist; go the "Dead Parrot" and "Spanish Inquisition" sketches!

@Esq, allow me to link it for you ... Monty Python's Flying Circus

The extraordinary thing about Flying Circus, which I haven't mentioned previously, is no matter how many times I watch through the whole series, there are always little bits and pieces I forget about until watching it again. So it is always refreshing to watch, even if I never forget the best lines or sketches, I can still look forward to being somewhat surprised. It's obviously due to the sheer volume of the whole show length and how it gets jumbled up my memory.

Thanks SS. I was going to put in a link, but I was feeling lazy. You know how it is. I know what you mean, there are so many MP sketches that we can all be excused for only remembering the good ones.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the flying sheep sketch!

Horace the sheep thinks he can fly and tries roosting in trees. the others try to follow suit (after all, they ARE sheep ). A reporter (I think Palin but it's hard to tell) is chatting to the farmer to the back ground of sheep bleating, followed by a whistle noise starting high, going to low and ended with a 'flump' noise They discuss the sheep and what they're doing and finally the reporter asks 'why don't you remove Horace?' (I think that's the sheep's name) and the farmer replies 'Because of the amazing commercial possibilities if he succedes!'

Yeh, the sheep one is a good one, especially the way you can't actually see them falling.

What about the feature length ones, which one of those is the best?

I think probably Holy Grail, especially the songs

I can't remember the "Flying Sheep" sketch (damn!), but what about the "Hell's Grannies" sketch. Classic.

Post Fri Jan 16, 2004 7:49 pm

While I know the flying sheep sketch that is referred to above, there is another flying sheep sketch where Cleese and Palin are acting like French Avion Engineers where they have a propeller on a cardboard sheep. Then they expose the belly of the sheep where they keep the cabin for the passengers and the luggage along with the wheels that replace the feet.

No, I can't remember that sheep one, but I agree that Hell's Grannies is a good one. Also i enjoyed the argument one.

@psycho, could you please elaborate as to why you like certain sketches as opposed to just listing them. It's bloody awful to read someone else's laundry list of likes and dislikes without an explanation why they do or don't like something.

The point of threads is to expand the conversation not just list a bunch of things.

The only scetch I can remember was the Silly walks and the Spam, spam, spam, etc... scetch.
I'm surprised no one mentionned it.

Edit: Damn spelling.

We did, but in the "Monty Python's Flying Circus" thread that SS has already linked. That's probably why this thread hasn't been inundated with posts; MP has already been discussed to death. At least, that's my theory. Yes, it is my theory, it belongs to me, and that is my theory.
