This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

It's called canned laughter, and it seems many American sitcoms can't go without them.

and what exactly is wrong with Sabrina (even though she's about 26 now)

next you'll be saying you dislike Mary-Kate & Ashley.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, how the fook can you not like them? *drools*

Post Mon Jan 05, 2004 1:35 pm

I just happen to remember them when they were 1 year olds

When I was a kid I liked Saved by the Bell, but it is pretty cheesy to watch. I haven't seen it in years, when they changed casts that was it for me. I don't remember the laugh tracks too much. But I think Californians (where most of these shows are shot) are being trained to laugh at anything these days. Seriously, where I am, its hard to make us laugh in a theater watching a film. Go out to the west coast and sit in a theater with them, they're busting out laughing at every punch line. I much prefer my area's audience. We know crap when we see it.

speaking of cinema audiences. I always wondered this or if it was just because some movies were that ****ing good, but is it normal over there for you folks to clap and boo and cheer when things happen? or applaud at the end or soemthing? Its just ive read and seen interviews where people talk about others in the cinema cheering when certain characters get their come-uppance, or when the guy gets the girl or something, or some magnificant bit of cinema is shown. I just wanted to check this out.

Actually I've always wondered that too Archie. Damned if I've ever seen anyone cheer or clap in a movie theatre, I mean it's not like they can hear you so why do it?

and I'm so relieved to find out that Im not the only dirty old perve that lusts after the olsen twins. They is well fit.

@Arcon & Mustang, to be more specific that is what I meant. I've been at a total of two movies in my life where people clapped at the end of a film, because the films were so extraoridnarily good. I went to one film in California and all sorts of stupid and annoying reactions from the audience were made. It's a Cali thing. Not an American thing.

They've been conditioning themselves for years. It's almost incestuous, they have no remaining proper sense of comedy or drama anymore.

i know people laughed in TT and return of the king, and in matrix revolutions when neo got his eyes burnt out and told trinity she would have to drive.

well that was in my local cinema anyway

Dutch audience of the theater I went to clapped at the end of ROTK... and so did I.

Post Tue Jan 06, 2004 3:20 am

@taw the best thing about sabrina is that she's 26! it makes me feel a hell of a lot less pervy watching it

as for audiences clapping in cinemas...I remember as a kid it used to happen all the time. People would wolf-whistle and scream when the title and rating of the film would come up at the beginning....applaud ridiculous stunts in bond movies, hurl popcorn at the screen when the bad guys were on and cheer at the credits if the movie was good. When I think back, it was definitely a different atmosphere....and in many ways I miss it....but in many ways I've become used to having a nice quiet cinema were I can just get pulled into the atmosphere of the film. I suppose it just shows how soceity has changed.
