Hockeeeeeeeeey!!!!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I don't like to watch NHL games. I'd rather watch college hockey games. Altogether though I find football more interesting, even the NFL games. Were I forced to choose between the NHL and the NBA, however, I'd probably choose the NHL. My team, of course, RRRRRRRAAAAAAAANNNGERS!

@parabolix,

When someone gets more cups then the Habs, I'll beleave we arn't the greatest team in the NHL

Time was, being a Habs fan was like being a Yankee fan or a Celtics fan.

Question for RILMS:

What's holding back Montreal today? Parity or more money south of the border?

ok.. let me clarify for those confused.
taw is right where he says that they(includin me ) have owned this particular argument.
soccer = american football = rugby = soccer
football = THE football, fussball,
this is a FACT
thus, american football is to be referred to as rugby or soccer , NOT football

in response to parabolix's question.. i have only watched one game of hockey, and not 2 seconds of it in my life.

not rugby, rugby is a MANS game. Hell, you yanks should take all of that armour off ya wuss'.

And you cant call it soccer 'cause that name is an alternate for Football. you need to come up with a NEW name

Seeing as all the Canadian TLRers are bound to at least take a look at this thread, could anyone tell me what the rugby scene is like there? Is it played at all or do you play American Football instead? Just interested since I intend to emigrate there at some point after uni.

Edmonton Oilers have had the best team of all time (even though they suck now)...mind you, they won 5 straight Stanley Cups...and had the player with the all time record in points in one season...Wayne Gretsky, 215 points, 92 goals, 123 assists.

For once in your life Duffman, stand up for the little guy!

RILMS, I mean: no discussions wether it is hockey or ice-hockey, or wether it is soccer or football. Just to clear things up

@parabolix,

Montreal, not nessacairly the Canadians, have won the cup 24 times. The Canadians have won the cup 14 times, the first being 1916 and the most recent 1993.

No where in my book on Canadian history (including hockey stuff) does it say Edmonton won 5 cups in a row. I see 84-5, 87-8, 90.

And Edmonton may of had the Great one, but we had The Rocket.

@ Wiz,

Oops, /is embarist.

Who cares about the rocket...Wayne Gretzky had more than 200 points 5 times in his career...no other player has ever gotten close to 200

It's Canadian Football. Rules are somewhat different and the playing field is larger than American Football.

*is in shock*

Have you never heard of the Richard Riot???

I havn't heard of any Gretzky Riot. It's all about the Habs mate, all about the Habs.

And besides, the Rocket was never traded away from the Habs, unlike the great one.

It was also a Canadian, Jacques Plante, who was the first goalie to ware a face mask on a regular basis.

i did once see the usa play germany at the albertville winter olympics
but thats the only ice hockey game ive ever been to

RILMS,

Gretzky was only traded because they knew he was nearing the end of his career...dont hang onto someone for too long...and Gretzky owns Riot anyday
