@ Steel, they still have Kilkenny on tap at my local. I didn't even know they stopped making it, I even bought a four pack of it about 6 months ago. Better go stock up.

Thanks for that Kyp, I'll try to keep that in mind .

Steel - Your girlfriend drinks Stella? More evidence to support the proverb!

Loc - Blood wine, eh? I'll have some prune juice .

What about Guiness or other stouts? They are supposed to be quite popular, however only one or two people have mentioned them (eg. WB ). Is my supposition erroneous?

Also, does anyone remember "Duff" beer? I remember seeing it around for a while, and then it vanished. Was it that unpopular?

On a similar note, am I the only one who really does not like spirits? They taste, smell and feel like you're swallowing petrol to me. I tend to just drink beer (especially ales) or cider.

I don't mind a dark ale from time to time but stouts taste fairly ordinary if you ask me.

Mmm, maybe stouts are the sort of thing that you drink on St. Patrick's day, and that's it.

@Taw,

Moniak Are we talking about mead or about that wonderful sounding whiskey that Locutus mentioned?

Post Mon Jan 05, 2004 5:29 am

Moniak mead, 'tis beautiful. if i ever could drink the Nectar of the Gods, it would be like mead.

Post Mon Jan 05, 2004 6:20 am

@ mustang i was told that about kilkenny a couple of years ago when it stopped being available here going on what you say i have to assume they just stopped it in the uk
@ taw have you tried the moniak sloe liquer its pretty good but harder to get than the mead
@ indy moniack is made just outside inverness in scotland and their mead is stunning as for locs whisky i am not 100% sure where they blend it but as the translation from gaelic means little lady of the isles id have to assume its from the hebredies

During a hangover - anything non-alcoholic.

Normally:
Lager (Stella Artois, Fosters)
Moscow Mule (Vodka and Ginger)
Whiskey and Ginger (Famous Grouse Whiskey)

As a freelancer one encounters some strange stuff - in the the end, however, you always remain the strangest thing you are ware of.

Seem to remember having this discussion before. Personally I'll drink pretty much anything....although my favourite has to be Zubrowka (polish herbed vodka) or possibly Wyborowa (premium polish vodka).

I'm a fan of real ale, caffrey's and guinness. I don't mind lager, but wife-beater (stella) is a little bit rough for my liking, and cider reminds me of being 14, but goes down quite well on a hot day. Single malt whiskey is never refused at my table, neither is tequila, rum or bourbon....but Gin and Malibu can, quite frankly, kiss my hairy @ss

Believe it or not though, I don't drink that much nowadays....I've turned into a binge drinker...I won't drink at all for months on end and then one day go out for a friends birthday and end up on a 2 day bender. Bad for the health I know, but you only live once.

Always been more of a smoker really...
