Should "The Simpsons" be axed?

I'm serious. I mean, the latest episodes have been really mediocre. One of the last episodes to screen here im Australia (that I can remember) was the one in which Moe forms an attachment with Maggie after saving her from... er, something (I can't remember), and it was pretty bloody awful. I love the show, however things are really going down hill in my view. I think that the reason is simple; they are running out of ideas. Why not end the show on a high as did Seinfeld? Why is the show still going? I wouldn't care to have a guess *cough* greed *cough*. What do you think? Am I overreacting, or do you concur?

By the way, if anyone would like to post their favourite characters/episodes/songs/whatever, don't let me stop you

yes. definitely. it just isnt funny any more. replace with Family Guy and/or Futurama, and entirely repeat all episodes of the Magic Roundabout, Herbs, Clangers, Cap'n Pugwash, Sir Prancelot, Noggin the Nog, Will o'the Wisp, Mary, Mungo & Midge, Crystal Tips and Alistair (no forget that it was cr*p) errrrm not Paddington I hated that, errrm Roobarb that was a laugh.

Simpsons not funny, dull and boring and when Homer isn't the main focus of attention it's actually sh*te now.

the last episode i seen was the one where Maggie swam out to sea to save Homer, that was fairly poor, well compaired to my favorite episode where esquilax's quote 'patience Monty climb the ladder' comes from

i dont quite agree but that might be due to me not having seen an episode that was more recent than 1902 because the BBC are cheapskates

i would hovever be very happy if the simpsons were replaced by Futurama

I agree, the simpsons is getting a bit tiresome, but it can still make me laugh. I think, aside from axing it, would be for the creators to disappear for a year a two and come back with some fresh material, go AWOL in other words.

The Simpsons has been around for how long....13 seasons? Maybe more. They've been alot of fun. But, it's time to let go. To take them out to the pasture and shoot them and let them die.
