This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I would like an honest opinion. Am I one of the offenders in question? I do my best not to post irrelevant information however, as a relative newcomer, I am becoming concerned.

The above post is true, and by true I mean "false". It's comprised of lies, but they are entertaining lies and in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is "no".

Spam is something that is completely irrelevant, like a topic about food could waver onto politics, and hence be clicked for spam!

Mexican food, that's an oxymoron!

DSL forums are better than these i'm afraid to say, they have POLLS!

@Esq:

Don't sweat it. Your threads, are fine.... You're in the OT. If people find your
ideas irrelevant they either will ignore you totally or flame the living day lights out of you. Either way, YOU WILL KNOW.

Nothing subtle for you to dig through.

Edit: Oh. And Happy Holidays to ya!

Happy holidays to you too Indy.

Hey! Im not being Nazi! I don't want to delete their posts, more of make them not count toward their score. Therefor, you chould have posted 500 times but lets say 5 of those are spam. 1 spam minus' 10 posts so he would have 450 points towards his rank.

Blaze, I know you of all people don't want to be Nazi, I was just showing that there are people that connect that kind of stuff with this.

But your enlightenment of your plans has done a lot. there is only one But.
To do that you need an arse-load of Mods, only to keep tabs on who is spamming.
Those Spam-Monitor-Mods would have their hands full, just think with the average number of spam in the OT alone you need 2 of those people, and then to distribute the Spam-points, you would have to be carefull to not step on any toes when distributing the points.

Again I value the initiative very much, I am not against it but I am rather a tad critical about the subject

Do I hear a volunteer
If something like this is implemented, I would be happy to volunteer as one of the mods.

Also, there's the kind of spam that is almost spam but has a tiny bit of relevancy that makes it not spam. For example:

Rheinland has a Chancellor
Okay, so it seems like spam out of context, but a little elaboration would be nice. Something like "Rheinland has a Chancellor, not a President", so it makes sense when people read it and they don't have to think too much. When it's semi-hard to understand, people don't bother trying to, then post the same thing, so please, be clear in posts.

@Esq, you're full of useful info when it comes to computers, and I'm sure other things we'll discover soon. The only thing you have to worry about is the fact that you have had more locked threads than any beginner I've seen not running rampant. But you do contribute and you are definitely welcome here in Off-Topic. You were just a suffering from newbie poster anxiety. No harm nor foul here.

Muwahahahaha!!!
I lost it!!!.....or better yet; did I ever have it?

I could be a Spam-Mod... i spend a lot of time on the forums... sometimes just reading... sometimes posting... but I am not too great at spam-recognition yet.
Is it spam to comment that a thread is dying?

Post Fri Dec 19, 2003 12:05 am

@Marty

I could be a Spam-Mod...
We don't give beginners that kind of power. Yes it is spam to say a thread is dying, because it usually means others after will focus on that and agree instead of adding new light to the thread or just letting it die. However, calling for a lock is sometimes necessary.

@ Arcon

Did you actually enter my post ?
Is my post "How do you classify a n00b ?" really spam ?. It made people think about how we classify other people here at TLR and attracted quite a few people to the post INCLUDING a mod (who didn't shut it down). It let people say their opinions on the matter, which I think is NOT spam.

Sorry if I'm ranting but I WILL defend my post against people who brand or sterotype it (even if they don't enter it).

Well, I don't classifly that post as spam but its fairly close.

Come to think of it, I should be the spam moderator becasue I thought of it.

Don't we already have spammods? E and FF were appointed just for that, remember? And there is always Wiz, Mustang and the rest on who we can always count, so we don't need yet another mod imho.
