Orbiter
not sure if this has been posted before but
has anyone ever played a game (not really a game) called orbiter? http://www.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/~martins/orbit/orbit.html
I stongly suggest you DON'T play this game unless you have at least a mild interest in space flight and/or astronomy
It is a free space flight simulator, and when they say simulator they MEAN SIMULATOR. There is no combat, no exploration, no trading, no guns. ORBITER is not a space shooter. The emphasis is on realism, and the learning curve is steep. This game was created by a proffessor of some sort, not a games company, and it is a very realistic simulation of spaceflight in the solar system. Want to get up and dock with the International space station? That'll take you about an hour to learn and an hour to do. You can't die though, of course. No explosions here!
Anyway I like the game er simulator, it can't really be called a game because I am into astronomy.
