Glad to hear we're not the only people who use miles

Our currency has been the same for the entire life of the country (whoohoo... 2 centurys) but due to some clever counterfiters the look keeps changing. $20 bills aren't even green (totaly) any more! We've also seen dolar coins come, go, come, go, and come again, as well as half dolars and half pennies, wich here won't buy you a gum ball

*sigh* Remenising the good old Guilder. We're stuck with those stupid Euro's. And it wouldn't be such a bad thing if it didn't cause the price on everything to double.

Post Wed Nov 12, 2003 1:02 pm

thus reinforcing my point, we should have all stuck to our traditional weights, measures and currencies! ah the good old florin...

the only time there was a single european currency that worked well, even for a while was with the roman empire

Lol Arcon.
Don't you get it, the EU wants Europe to become one country, much like the USA.

Ahh well, freelancing has got a kind of romantic atmosphere imho. All that freedom and independance.
On the other hand, it's gonna be hard work selling your stuff.

I might have missed it ff, but did you get the job?

@nickless I must applaud you for managing to get the thread back on topic so smoothly....we'd gone so widely diverse that I'd totally forgotten what the original post was about!

Post Thu Nov 13, 2003 12:51 pm

Looks like my work here is done

Post Thu Nov 13, 2003 10:20 pm

it will be different studios, anywhere from 1 day to 1 week.

@ff

it will be different studios

That's what I've heard about British media companies, there is no one company that does everything. Which on one hand could be good, fresher ideas, more healthy compentition. On the other hand, coordinating between them I'm sure is a problem.

That apears to be true here too sS. You always see for example Disney AND Pixar. Or somthing like that. It just so happens that all the little and large companie are under one "roof"... LA

Post Fri Nov 14, 2003 1:12 am

@WB, actually Pixar did all their own stuff on the production side. Disney only footed the bill for distribution. And right now, Pixar is going their separate way. Finding Nemo was their last Disney distributed movie. Rarely are producers and distributors the same in most types of industries. So I didn't mean it that way.

I meant for instance, if you needed to film a movie you need to go one company for all the film and equipment. Then you need to go to another one for processing. Then you need to go to another company for all editing. Then another one for any CG (in fact you might have several here). Then you need to go to another for sound and scoring. Whereas Hollywood companies often have at least 2 or 3 of the processes inhouse and only farm out parts of it for something extraordinary.
