Exchanges are fun!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Exchanges are fun!

Hello! I haven't been around lately because of I was on a German exchange.
It was alot of fun and I saw the Berlin wall and alot of hisotic stuff (don't ask). You know how they say that Germany has been bombed flat, well, it has! Everything is new, the 'old' buildings look old but are new.
My exchange partner is called Alex and he is so much like me. We were playing Empire Earth till 1 am. Ive never played it before, it takes ages to play (5 hours for 2 ages. There are 16 ages.) I was sad to leave and go back to school.

Has anyone else been on an exchange?

not for nearly 25yrs! but they are fun, if u get a good family (and not a bunch of stiffs) btw Berlin is a really exciting place, almost everything is new there now, i went a couple of yrs ago and barely recognised the place from when i was there about 10yrs ago. i also went a couple of times back in the early 80s when the Cold War was still going strong (ah, happy days, we knew what was what then) and belive me hardly anything is left of that period, other than a few bits of wall, some empty ground and one or two houses, and of course the Checkpoint Charlie museum.

I became best friends with a beautiful Czech exchange student. The most lovely girl with an absolutely charming personality. As a romantic couple we didn't work. However, I have never so thoroughly loved and adored a friend the way I did her. I miss her a lot, because she went back to Prague and died 13 days after she left. :'(

I was completely distraught and torn apart for most of these recent 2 years. I never had a chance to go see her grave, because of not having money. So I never had that closure. I still keep expecting her to ring up and ask me how I am doing. Like it had been a dreadful mistake or misunderstanding.

Never been off of North American...never had someone I cared about die, aside from cats...but Empire Earth kicks ass

I was never exchanged student, never played empire earth...but my hearth was broken too.

She was first greatest love of my life, I fell in love with her the same moment I saw her....she looked like an angel. We became best friends, and I think she had a thing for me too as she allways liked to hang out with me....anyway than war came and I was forced to leave the city I lived in and I never saw her nor I heard from her(didnt even know if she made it). This broke my hearts in billion peaces, I felt the pain for next 2 years, and I just could not stop thinking about her, heck now after 5 years she is still in my mind and my hearth, and will allways stay there.

EDIT I should not have posted about this....it is bringing tears in to my eyes, I try to forget but it seems impossible.............

You're Alucard, the vaguely evil star of Hellsing that is both revered and feared. Always ready to laugh at the weaknessess of others, you can be downright cruel. Lurking underneath all that bitterness, however, is a strong sense of justice and concern for those you care about.

Man this has turned into a hard luck story topic. Leonhart just think of what a great story it will make if you find her again, never give up hope 100%.

As for exchanges, never been on one. I spent 3 weeks in Britain (mainly London) back in 99, but never ventured to greater europe, I hope to be back there in a couple of years though.

I plan to go to England in 2007 for the Scouting Centinal. That'll be grand!

good god I think I'm gonna cry

I never did the exchange thing...mainly because no foreign student wanted to visit Wigan (understandable really ). But I have done a couple of work exchanges, which are a little odd, but quite fun too.

@ SS,

No no, I plan to be there. I want to be in England and as close to Brownsea Island as I can be when the sun rises in Augest. I've been in the movement my entier life, not gonna stop now.

BTW, Brownsea Island is Scouting Holy Ground. Where the first Scout Camp was held back in 1907.

I met a girl once, turned out she lived next door to me, fell in love with her on the spot, 2 months later, she and her parents have to move out, she gives my parents a postcard with her new address on it, which they quietly loose. i miss her even today ( i was...12 at the time )
