no no my learned friend, the first step to "1984"-esque dystopia was america agreeing to sign away its rights in an attempt to feel more secure about terrorists in the post 11th september 2001 hullabaloo. Homeland security anyone?
I dont want to know what crazy scemes americans think are going to make them sleep sounder in their beds but i can guarantee signing your liberties away isnt one of them, instead of being conrolled by fear, your being controlled by the government...not good.
This trusted computer thing is a load of hooey, alongside "the fbi is reading my email" and "i think i'm being bugged", i have not got a chip in my pc put there by microsoft, nor am i going to put one in, the reality that something like this will make it through to my pc without the UK government going "hey...this is bull****" is miniscule. Windows XP runs fine at the moment, i feel no need to change my operating system right away, and if i did i might be tempted to lean towards a mac with the increasing amount of creative work ive been making.
Paranoid nerds who dont really know whats going on but have read "brave new world" or "1984" and are convinced theyre all gonna be like kids in a pink floyd video created this "dilema" i think its about as laughable as the "Y2K" bug, where every computer literate guy out there was screaming "ITS NOT A PROBLEM, YOUR JUST BEING A PARANOID PUTZ, YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM IS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD, NOTHING IS GOING TO GO WRONG!!!" yet that didnt stop people pretty much preparing for nuclear winter and locking themselves in the bomb shelter theyve made. Likewise i think your gonna feel so damn stupid when all of this DOESNT happen. Sure, i'll click your link, all the webcomics are offline for the weekend so i need something to laugh at
