Computer world warned of fresh Blaster-like exploit
FRESH ATTEMPTS are underway in the viral underground to exploit holes in Microsoft software that were patched by the firm last week.
Ken Dunham, malicious code intelligence manager at iDEFENSE, told the INQUIRER: "A new Blaster-like worm family could be created in a matter of hours or days now that exploit source code has been posted in the underground".
He said the easy availability of code that exploits the RPC MS03-039 hole was a real danger. "The new attack tool makes it trivial for any malicious actor to gain unauthorized root access to an unpatched computer".
