To answer that question: For the latest Games!! especially for a few certain up-and-coming games *cough*

Well, I just don't like to be stuck without a really cool game because my system specs aren't good enough. Or that I don't like to run really cool games on really bad graphic resolution/detail...I think most people just want to be on top of things...so they upgrade like crazy once in a while.

Chig is right. I played the Homeworld2 demo yesterday and found myself "chogging" in places. Going over 3ghz, having over 512mb RAM, and a 256mb video card will be pretty much necessary after the end of the year or some stuff won't be worth playing.
