This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Mel is indeed a devoted catholic. He trusts his project completely, because he spend more than $ 25 million of his own money on this film. He just wanted to do this movie really bad.

catholics are like that, believe me, i know. if he wants to spend his own money let him. i shan't be going to see it anyway, although i might have a two feature video night between Passion and Life of Brian

But by speaking out on an unfinished and largely unseen film, it has already sparked interest in a film which may only have appealed to a limited audience - the dialogue is entirely spoken in Latin and Aramaic with no plans for subtitles.

Mary is more a symbol of chastity and moral goodness for catholics.

I don't believe in any set faith though, to much blood has been spilt over the catholic/protestant question for me to believe in either of them, or any other church for that matter. Besides both are incredibly arcane and at times, downright cruel.

But Mel Gibson is entitled to his views and they're just as valid as the next man's take on religion. Personally I feel he should be able to feel free to express those views. He's bound to ruffle a few feathers, but we should all be grown up enough to handle it.

@arcon: The latest news is that the film will have English subtitles after all, which is a wise decision of Mel IMHO. I think that widens the audience for the movie.

yes Corsairs and Outcasts could watch it too!

catholics worship mel gibson's mother, ff? well I've heard she was a nice lady but isn't that going a bit far?

Post Thu Aug 28, 2003 6:49 pm

especially when you know that there are about 3-4 people o this globe that CAN
speak and understand aramaic (it has been a dead lingo for about 1900 years).
so it definately widens the audienc a bit

no, i meant they worship jesus's mother, whats the point in worshipping his mother? what did she do?!

sorry if this offends anyone

I'm Catholic, and yes the Mother is quite a prominent figure, but only as an above-average saint, His teachings are still numero uno. Churches usually maintain a separate shrine for Mother Mary, but praying to her is really optional.

We do not "worship" her, as it would be heresy. She's a patron saint. For example, while on a quest to slay dragons, you pray to St George . She's the one you pray to if you want to...uh, preserve your uh, chastity (naah I'm joking )

I hope this makes it clear.

virgin mary eigh? well surely she isnt a good role model, arent you supposed to consumate your marriage the very night? That joseph musta been mighty pissed off.

incidentally, the irish love a bit of Mary, i bet Joseph is super gutted about that too, he's in heaven thinking "blinking heck, i only raised the boy, taught him to be a carpenter, took him fishing, did all that father son bonding and history totally forgets me...charming"

lol ff I was just teasing..

Sorry if I create a bit of furor here, but I honestly can't believe that Joseph stayed married to Mary his whole life and didn't give her one. If that's true he deserves a LOT more credit than Mary.
