Know this Windows error?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Know this Windows error?

Windows socket error: only one usage of each sockeet address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted (10048), on API 'bind'

What does that mean? It pops up in multiple error messages on my desktop and refuses to go away when the OK buttons clicked.Honestly, I don't feel that there is anything wrong at all with the computer.

It has something to do with opening communixation ports via TCP/IP or IPX sockets. i presume that you're using Win XP. If you have a firewall active (along with the one built-in you get with Windows), maybe it blocks some of the comms ports needed for modem-to-modem communication (challenge handshake protocol), so Windows tries to open another port and the firewall redirects it to one of the allowed (in your case 10048) ports... If this is not the case, then I'll need more info (exact Win version, Network settings, and modem specs)

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

I might be completly wrong but

it looks like a router complaint, a mate of mine had the same problem when he trted to run a server through his router, but can say how he fixed is....

It appears to be a networking error, a socket is a node (MAC) address and a port number. So from the error message i would guess that your PC is trying to access a service (ie HTTP, FTP, SMTP etc) multiple times from the one node (ie server, router and an off chance of a switch or modem).

I have no idea why it would be happening though, I'll give it some thought and get back to you.
