Which is better?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Which is better?

I'm buying a 5.1 setup for my PC tonight and I need some last minute advice. I've narrowed it down to the Klipsch Promedia 5.1s (NOT the GMX) and the Logitech z-680s. I don't think I'll be disappointed with either, but the Promedias have been the best for a long time and some magazines are still recomending those over the Logitechs with their "dream rig" configs. Price really doesn't matter, since neither are more than 350$ and I most likely won't be paying full retail anyway since I can't find them locally. So, which sounds better, in your opinion?

I'm leaning torwards the Promedias myself, for reasons stated above, but I've heard that maybe the Logitechs sound better. Remember, I'm ordering tonight so hurry

I don't know what kind of a 5.1 you mean but I would go for the logitech because the name is well known and they have (in my experience) a good helpdesk

Speakers. Like 5.1 surround sound. Center speaker, four sattelites, and a subwoofer. Klipsch also has a good helpdesk though... They extended the warranty on all their speakers for all their customers because of a flaw in their design process that occasionally makes a bad set. Gotta hand it to a company that fesses up and will fork over the money to take care of problems like that

I've never heard of the brand klipsch. but if you think it would help you a lot then by all means take the klipsch. but I would stick with the logitech

oh and if you are looking for a good GPU I can strongly recommend the nVIDIA-(© GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128MB chipset with TV out. it's great

No thanks, I don't want to downgrade.

Take Klipsch. I have the Logitech, my roomie has the Klipsch. Klipsch has slightly better sound, but Logitech has the better, more intuitive panel control, IMO.

But you know what? neither mattered, because my headphone beats them both. I have a 5 Euro () Philips Stereo Headphone SBC HP090, and it rocks.

I agree, you can't beat the headphones' mid-range quality with any speakers...
IMHO, it really doesn't matter which one you choose, because the difference is just too small... And it's all just average (or above-average) performance. A GOOD sound system would have to include a Sony CD player, a Marantz amplifier, and Technics or JVC speakers. The PC audio systems will NEVER meet or exceed performance of the designated, true analog audio quality with tube amplifiers, and valve equalizers, and something better than the crappy Bass-reflex system, like "snail shell sound maze"... *wanders off*

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

I'd go the Logitech's Tach. I've had my eye on them ever since they came out but I can't justify the expense, they are like $750 here in Aus.

Intesting, FF. I was hoping some of you had heard and compared both Mustang, have you heard the Logitechs, and/or the Promedias?

Wha-? Alright. from reading the first three words of this thread, I can tell that I wil not be able to undertand another word. Sorry, but computers aren;t exactly my thing...

Science is knowledge.
Knowledge is power.
Time is money.
power = work/time
therefore, knowledge= work/money
therefore, money = work/knowledge
therefore, money is inversely proportional to knowledge.

therefore,

The more knowledge you have, the less money you have.

Prepare for the worst, for you have read the worst.

Aw, c'mon. It was an expression. I actually got to the part where he started listing computer parts. After that, I stopped. You didn't think I really only read threee words, did you?

Post Sat Jun 28, 2003 4:17 pm

5.1 speaker systems are more Audio/Visual equipment than they are computer parts any way

I've postponed the date until tonight. BTW guys, I'm looking for serious advice on this, so please...

Post Sat Jun 28, 2003 8:06 pm

on a serious note the only thing about the logitech that is better is the name, so I'd go for the Klipsch
