Event Horizon

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Event Horizon

I'm watching the movie, man this is creepy. What are your thoughts- on the plot, on the creep factor- on the science

Never seen it.

Just think, this useless post is adding to my rank...

Definitely creepy. Gory, yes, but it's way above the cliched teen horrors. Everything that happened in the EH is plausible and happened for a good reason. But the gore is not the scariest part. It's playing with your own mind and convinced us that the terror is in there, not something tangible and bashable-to-death.

Haven't seen all of it, but I've seen most of the gorey bits. good effects

Very good movie IMHO. I thought the plot was very intense, not your average thriller/horror movie. Two thumbs up if you ask me !

so... was it the gravity drive that warped perception or something... or was it because it went to the equivalent of hell and back... and why does the gravity drive room look like a meat grinder?

@ FF: plausable, you think traveling to 'hell' is plausable? ghosts etc. its not plausable, its fun, and a bit unique and i just love ghost ship stories. its a winner

Event Horizon is a ship that was designed specifically to reach stars in a second of known physchal time. The Gravity Drive greated an artificial black hole (which are known to tear galaxy's apart and make Sun's go supernova). The idea that a worm hole can defy the law if physics is entirely True!!! This movie is based on theory but is possible, it's like to say if a worm hole opened up in our part of this galaxy, it could possibly distort space time and takes back in time or possible take us beyond the known laws of Physics. The Gravity Drive is something that may likely be used in future expeiment as a means of travel as the idea of warp is entirely skeptical. Although scientists have been mapulating matter and stuff like that, we are miles and miles away from even discovering the vast potential of manipulation of matter to create solar Fusion. The Gravity drive is based on a idea which is most likely, most possible and probably faster, but the idea of creating one of the most destruction forces known to man can possible have the potention to end all life.

On my last note i redeem the movie an excellent story line and a terrific amount of believable horror. This movie was based in the year of 2047.

I give it my personal Thumbs up and if it was my choice, name it the best space horror movie in excistance today.

I'd also like to add it would be totally awesome if someone could make this ship(BS)

And to answer the question about the meat grinder bit, the idea of it is to contain the magnetic rings which the Gravity Drive uses as a power source to create the black holy. When compromised it can forcefully damage any part of the ship and possibly even destroy the ship. So it's a very good idea to keep the rings inside the core. (i love this movie, as you can see)

thats not what i said, ive no problem with wormholes, its the fact that they went to HELL. you remember hell, its where damned souls go. the kingdom of evil etc. etc. well, that ship, it went there.
also, you think a ship can break the laws of physics. remember were talking about the LAWS of physics not, say, the ADVISED OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES OF PHYSICS. how can something physical break the laws of physics?

PLAUSABLE????

...no

I thought they went to a dimension of chaos. I doubt for some reason that the ship went to the Biblical hell.

I wasn't referring to the techno context. I meant how the Doctor was left working alone, for example. In its Scream counterpart, it's because the said teenager went to get more beer or something (rolls eyes heavenward).

What I wanted to know was how the space vacuum didn't kill Weir. EH was not supposed to be about demons or hell. It was about a trip to an alternate dimension that screws the crew's minds up and turn them against each other and themselves. Weir surviving that vacuum kinda botched its every plus points.

On a lighter note, want to see a creepier movie? Go rent Spice World.

Post Mon Jun 23, 2003 12:15 pm

If you exhale all the air from your lungs,(which he did) you should be able to survive vacuum for a few seconds at leased, and its not like he came out of it without injury.... so i don't think it damaged the story to badly

Post Mon Jun 23, 2003 12:47 pm

i think it was hinted to that it was hell, the latin speaking and all, dimention of chaos, i'd call it hell.
but then again, when the DSL goes down its hell :p

and people survivng a vacum, did anyone see total recall, i HATE that film, its an awfully covinient story, with no point to it and its stupid, however everyone i talk to loves it. Anyway, so arnie is out in the ZERO atmosphere mars landscape and lasts for a fair few minutes just choking and his head swelling up...*shudder*

LOL! Total Recal owned. Arnie Rules

and arcon stop argueing with me becuz it is possible that is based on the law of Physics to break them, breaking the law of Physics is not impossble, but i mite also add that the Event Horizon was invented to break the laws of Phsyics. The gravity drove defy's the laws and folds space so that point a and point b co excist in the same space continueum. The ship passes through this folded space gateway, and space returns to normal. This is defying the laws of Phsyics! How in the world can you fold space, create a worm hole? the law of phsyics prohibits this. This ship defyed the laws, therefore i am correct

P.S Arcon dun reply with some meaty bull****
