Have you ever thought of it?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Have you ever thought of it?

Just wondering for all of you out there (except for small kids, which I will come at later)

Is this guy an oxymoron or not?..

There is this guy by the name of John who invested over 50,000 dollar in a scheme. For the first four years, he toiled himself learning this scheme, day and night, without stopping to rest or break. He does not get any money, nor does he gets any rest, but continuous punishing learning of that scheme. At the end of the four year, he put under a 'master' and he is to become slave. That is, the 'master' tells him what he should wear, how he should talk, how he speak, wlak, and how much time he should spend to now 'work' his scheme. At the end of a long day of 'working' his scheme, John gets a monthly pay of about 3000 dollar a month.

after years and years of 'working' his scheme, after many changes of 'boss' John finnaly retires with a 40 dollar watch...

is this guy an idiot or what?

That guy is a MORON, not an oxymoron.

Where did you find the story? Are you sure it's real?

I'd have to agree with Wizard that this guy is a moron, if anything.

Did I say Wizard? sorry, meant Fear Factor..

Im with you Wizard, I don't get it either. Is it supposed to be a riddle or is it just a hard luck story?

Post Tue Jun 17, 2003 2:01 pm

Im too stupid to get this.

Sounds like the godawful joke called life.
Or, to put it differently:
$50,000 scheme: 4 years of college.
Master/Slave: Work.
$40 watch: Retirement gift after work.

@Mustang -- You could say it is a hard luck story, but it is the most common one around.

is this guy real or not ?? if he spent 4 yrs studying this scheme of his, then he'd be more likely to know everything thats gotta do with it, big and small.. so i'd say this guy's a real moron if i ever met one.

Science is knowledge.
Knowledge is power.
Time is money.
power = work/time
therefore, knowledge= work/money
therefore, money = work/knowledge
therefore, money is inversely proportional to knowledge.

therefore,

The more knowledge you have, the less money you have.

Prepare for the worst, for you have read the worst.

is an oxymoron something which is similar to or sounds like something else

"Make it so Number One"
Captain Picard 'Star Trek the Next Generation'

Post Tue Jun 17, 2003 8:22 pm

It depends on how this guy was suckered into this scheme, but he's likely to have to be a moron to continue with that for the first 4 years.
@gowserpaul
An oxymoron is a word or group of words that are self contradictory eg "Greater Manchester" (joking), perhaps a better example would be "deafening silence"

Eat a third and drink a third and leave the remaining third of your stomach empty.
Then, when you get angry, there will be sufficient room for your rage.

I think that the word sucker is perfect for this guy -- he planned to do something, to be his own master, he invested much in it, and then he submitted to his master, only to receive a $40 watch as a token of appretiation for his hard work... That's just plain brutal...

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

Huffer got it right. It's called the 'rat race'
it's the job that we are all going into. JOB is 'Just Over Broke'

you spend over 50000 dollar, and 4 years learning in college , only to graduate and get a job that pays you a fwe thousand dollar a month. It may take up to 10 years to break even the initial investment you put in.

When you work for people you make your bosses rich.

Your bosses also tells you when to work, how to spend your time, how to spend your money. With whom or what you spend your money with. and worst off all, they'll make you choose between the important things in your life and your job.

when they don't need you, they'll retire you with a 40 dollars watch.

this is what some people say the 4x4 plan. Learn for 4 years, earn 40000 a year, retire with a 40 dollar watch.

Obviously, not many of you are seeing where you are heading (unless you are working). Most of you are in college, or going to college, and you'll graduate just to work for somebody else..
