Eurovision 2003

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Eurovision 2003

I just finished watching it. My wife being from Spain, always watches it. Personally, I didn't think Turkey deserved to win because I just didn't like the song. The group from Belgium that won second place was a great song though not my favorite. The duo from Russia was sexy but their voices sucked. My favorite songs were from Ireland, Iceland, Norway and Estonia. Great songs.

My biggest complaint was that Britain didn't even receive one vote. How can that be??? That piece of crap song from Austria was a joke and was among the top songs. This to me seems to be unjust. That's Eurovision for you. What did you guys think? What song/country did you like?

I came. I saw. I conquered. And sometimes get conquered.

Where's the Landbridge when you need it?

ps: to mexico: i think spanish speakin peeps r cool and if i was gonna smoke something, it would be weed.
to canada: 1 you guys have cool stoplights and you got a space camp and 2 your booz is better

Ah, well, guys, what do you expect from a mediocre pop show (no offense - I just think that pop is not music - it's commerce). Never watch this stuff.

the song contest isn't about songs anymore.. it's more political, countries give their votes to countries they like, not to the songs.
you could see our (Austrian) entry as a protest, as a means of saying that the contest is nothing more than a bad joke

...and that, on the political front, the UK didn't get a vote because of our involvement with the Iraq thing.

Personally, I think sending in two nobodies from Liverpool didn't help. Especially when they're singing pop fluff in off-key notes. Ouch. Hell, even Hear'Say would have been better... and that's a SAD thing for me to admit.

I watched for the sarcasm
When it became blatently obvious ole UK was hitting for the zero I became an avid supporter for any other country on zero, after all, why should we share the glory of a resounding 0 points with anyone else.
I know our song was not really any good but it was along par with a few others.
Can't wait till the next one.........or can I??????

Twas an amusing night anyway.

I'm getting tired of people getting so excited about the latest thing from Europe. We've got enough crap in the United States already. We don't need anymore crap from Europe.

Let's get those missiles ready to destroy the universe!!

its hardly the latest thing, it was started in the 50's, it was basicaly the start of all pop and was the launching platform for the likes of ABBA, Cliff Richard and Celine Dion

so all in all its the worsed thing to ever happen to music

if you're referring to pop in general, then you're right. Though, when you think about it, the stuff we nowadays dub classical music was pop too back in those days (consider the productivity of the composers - and these are only a few ones we know - how many of them have just sunk into oblivion...).
@Ugnaught: I don't doubt you have enough crap of your own there in the U.S., but since we're kinda international community here, why not let folks taste some of ours?

Upnaught...I'm an American and I watched it with my wife. I not sure if you've seen it, but there are some talented singers and groups. There were several different styles of music apart from metal and rap. It's not fantastic but it is fun to watch.
