SNES Wing Commander

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

SNES Wing Commander

Has anyone played Wing Commader on SNES? I was lookin' for it on Gamestop.com and they had it on back-order, as well as Wing Commander Secret Ops. Does anyone know, is it identical to the PC version? I'm also assuming it is the original Wing Commander (only on SNES as opposed to PC). Is that correct as well? I'm looking to get a job soon, so I should soon have the $50 for an SNES system (which I think I can get for cheaper) and the $50 for BOTH WC games. But has anyone played 'em and does anyone know if they're the same as the PC?

I rented it in 1993. I didn't like it. The controls were so unresponsive that I couldn't hit anything and gave up. The PC version is 100 times better. My opinion is to not buy it unless you want to say, "why did I spend money on this? It sucks!" over and over.

Well, I anticipated the SNES version would be much less responsive, but the PC original Wing Commander is impossible to find in a format that will run on any computer to which I have access, so the SNES version is my only hope. Was the story the same, though? Like you said, the controls were unresponsive, but were the story and missions and graphics and everything the same as the PC version?

I *think* the story is the same, but I have to echo sentiments about the controls. They're not just unresponsive: movement is extraordinarily choppy. (I went old-school happy for a while a couple years ago, buying an SNES and a bunch of games, including Wing Commander.)

Also, the graphics, even just on the carrier, look a lot worse, imho. I really wouldn't recommend it if you're looking to pay a respectful visit to the past.

Try getting a 3DO and a copy of Super Wing Commander.

3DO (the company) made good storylines for Might and Magic.

If you get a 3DO don't waste your time with super wing commander, it sucks. Go with wing commander 3. It is pertty sweet.
