my advice: watch the ENTIRE series, ull understand it at the end of the last episode

And if you still don't get it at the end of ep 26 just go and watch the movie End of Evangelion. Don't bother with Death and Rebirth seeing as how it's just a synopsis of the series and the first half of End of Eva.

When the show is titled something that sound a lot like Evangelism, you know you'd need more faith and blind conviction than rational thinking....

You need to not watch the last episodes. That will ruin everything before it.

I finished the series. So... ep 25 iis an analysis of what happens after the thing.. and ep 26 is a continuation. That ending was so... unexpected. Who does Shinji represent at the end? Himself (with the AT field) or Mankind (without the AT field)? It's awfully depressing... I was.. shaken... by the whole thing.

I noticed many sites claiming Kaoru was gay. I wouldn't think so, as he isn;t human. Gender/sexual differences wouldn't matter.

i've always wanted to get into this show but i can never find the dvd at any shops except the final two so bugger!

pieman: I think that the ending leaves a lot of room for self-interpretation. However, if you want what the director wanted you to think (hehe, or what a lot of people wanted the director to make people think) then go and see End of Eva. Personally, I liked the series ending better, but that's just me. However, I thought that the series ending was simply Shinji's decent into insanity and how his conscious mind fights to maintain hold of reality. There's my two cents. Cheers.

EDIT: but then again, I haven't seen the series in about a year now, so I could have forgotten what happens at the series end.

Hell it is a good anime... but as an anime fan myself, you have to admit that suspension of belief is imperative in order to enjoy the said anime.

*frowns and scratches his chin* well that could be argued, no actually u have a good point there.

And for a d@mn good anime that's not sci-fi but more of a period anime, go and watch the Rurouni Kenshin OVA. It's 2 hours long that covers two discs. However, if you're sqeamish towards seeing blood in a cartoon, be forewarned, your TV/monitor will be covered in red in all parts. And no, you don't need to see the series to understand what's going on. (BTW: there are 2 OVA's of Rurouni Kenshin, get the ones that are labelled Samurai X: Trust and Samurai X: Betrayal). It's just sooooo good. Cheers.

I watched a bit of Kenshin. The animation looked absolutely.. fantasmatic. I will watch it shortly.
