if i remember correctly, M-16 recoils aren't too bad. just like a light jab from a kid.. yeah. but don't even try to feel the recoil from a shotgun..but maybe i don't know if it was the same for you. i was asking some soldiers at this display thingy..

@ Kimk: I think they are about 5 lbs unloaded, so that would be a little over 2 kg.
@ FF: The recoil is almost nonexistant, about twice what a .22 has, if you've ever fired one. I did pretty well, considering the gun wasn't sighted in for me, I got all my rounds into about a 4 in. (about 10 cm.) circle. The target was 25 meters away, so it wasn't like it was long range or anything. I did better than I thought I would.

The M-16 Rifle is a 5.56 mm (.223 Calibur) rifle that has almost no recoil, because it reuses most of that recoil to chamber another round and continue firing.

I was a Gunner's Mate (Guns) in the US Navy. My specialty was small arms.

However the M-16 is not the most fun weapon to fire.

Try the Browning MK2 HB .50 Cal machine gun some day.

The recoil of a shot gun isn't that bad. Just don't fight it....Worst thing to do.

Seen guys dislocate thier shoulders from fighting recoil....
