Startopia

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Startopia

I just recently bought a game called StarTopia, apparently a "sleeper hit" its a very, very fun game where you get to manage the economy and run the army on a space station, it has 3 floors, a Industrial Floor, a Entertainment Floor, and a Bio-Deck Floor, each floor has i think 16 sections you "Buy" to open more area to build in, does anyone else have this game here? I think Multiplayer on it is absolutely awesome, but theres never anyone on, if anyone wants to play multi on it tel me, the game is definetly terrific, you attract various types of aliens (each having skills, attributes, specialties and even a criminal record and hobbies) the game is also very humorous in many of the things it does, aliens you hire you pay and they work for you as doctors, factory workers, police, all kinds of stuff, on the bio-deck you canmodify the terrain, add and take away water, set moisture and temperature levels, grow plants and sell them to traders. The game has awesome graphics and terrific gameplay to boot.

Hobbies are also quite funny to read through, i have found some that say "Play Urban Chaos From Mucky Foot Productions" (the developer obviously) and found some that say "Listening For a Audible Scream in Space and Watching Paint Dry" hehe, you can also build tons of different buildings. One of which being the bar, where aliens come aboard to get drunk and have fistfights or do stupid stuff around your station. There many different species and types of aliens, its just simply too hard to explain, the best i could do is just recommend it and hope it sparks some interest. Many little "gems" in the game make it very cool for me, putting a Clock in any of your rooms or buildings it shows your time according to your system clock so you dont have to alt-tab. All kinds of little stuff that make it fun, you can zoom ALL the way out, or zoom enough in to see the expressions on faces. And every once in a while this Station Advisor Computer contacts you with something humorous to say about you such as "wormhole travel is all well and good, but........what if you meet a worm in it?"

Its just a great game, the only one that has caused this much attention from me since freelancer and GTA3: Vice City (dont correct, i know thats exactly what the game is, a update to GTA3, or so it says in the manual of the game). Typically, after having setup your economy its funny just to watch your residents live their lives, at one point, i saw kasvagorian (tough guy, basic military dudes) get drunk, goto the sick bay and lay down on a medical bed, after laying there (looking tired) a doctor headed his way, he stood up and walked out of the sick bay (hehehe). Or when a alien was in combat, he was waiting in line for the bathroom (which you can hear "interesting" sounds from when someones inside) after waiting in line a while (i only had 1 at the time) was in combat, ran into the restroom and used the slits on the door to fire his blaster on the enemy. Just a great game, i recommend it to all who wanna try it, and by the way, its not one of those hardcore management sims, it can be hard, but its only as hard as you make it out to be, i find it quite easy, some lighthearted humor and just pure fun, you guys should check it out, it should be about 10 bucks in stores now.

Yeah I got StarTopia I agree its one of those fun little games that you dont hear much about, and its a nice idea. I havnt played it in a while though, I bought it when it first came out after playing the demo.

Its made by Mucky Foot which I believe has a lot of the old employees from Bullfrog who made games like Theme Hospital, its certainly simular in the little details that are in the game. Graphics are good and personally i spent way too much time on that game in the bio-dec creating huge multi-habit landscapes to grow plants and keep the aliens happy

I have never tried to play it multiplayer, my connection & computer dont seem to agree with online gaming

In fact, i miss the glossy metal floors and funny looking little robots of a live space station, i think im gonna play now and get hooked for a week or so. Such a great game really. Multiplayer is a BLAST! you and a friend can have like 2 different entire kingdoms seperated by huge blast doors. Open them, mass all your armies together and take out the ai, the cool thing is the combat is very detailed, a guy will walk up to a room, shoot off the door, run in and start shooting aliens and various things in the room, eventually destroying it and going to the next one.

I've got Startopia too. If you've got a mildly sadistic sense of humour like me then build up a huge base and save before removing all the entrances, food stations, litter bins, hospitals, toilets and sleeping berths. Now its time for survival of the fittest :-P Its even funnier if you've got loads of those little cat things in there too and you've fired everyone. With no bins or toilets, rubbish fills up in no time and the creatures turn into those ugly monsters, with no hired aliens no one fires on them, its a rather funny bloodbath!!

'Nuff said.
