General Dysonics,...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

wasnt there one in an episode of star trek, where scotty managed to survive a crash by half teleporting himself. isnt it a huge sphere built around a star the correct distance with the inside populated with life.

Dyson Spheres are a theory that you can build a sphere around an entire star system to harness all of the star's energy.

However they are impractical at our stage of development. it would require more resources that we have. Even in our solar system, with the asteroid field between Mars and Juipter.

They have appeared in several books, and the only other visual representation of one, other then FL, I know of was, as previously mentioned, ST:TNG Episode "Relics"

The are major feats of technology and manufacturing. They encompass everything in a star system, and the population would live on the shere iteself.

Theorhetically...depending on the material used for the Sphere, you could technically make it so that the outter surface did not reflect light, so it might only show up on Thermal or Mass sensors...

I did some research on Dyson Spheres a long time ago...I should dig that up and post a link to it one day....Just too lazy...I think it's at my parent's house...and that's several states away....:/

Great link Eraser..
I like when we venture into outer space.. Like the time we talked about a lift into space..
But this task seems even futher out.. It would be a momentious task to construct it and even more to keep it in place.. The solar winds would tare the sucker apart..

And how about asteroids? The whole thing would have to be fitted with massive cannons,...
