Old Games

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Old Games

I realize that I've brought up the subject of Monkey Island, Murray, Stan, and Wally far to many times, so I'll do my best to keep away from it. I recently pulled Tie Fighter off my shelf-I'd forgotten how much fun it was . The mouse flight is still coming back to me, so between the enemy fighters and the orders to "rendez-vous" with the Tropsobor, I'm struggling just to stay alive.

I think I'm gonna brush the dust off my Starcraft box and I really miss playing WC2, Strike Commander, Ultima 8, and Syndicate. But it's too much of a hassle to get them working in my current PC.

I remember spending all night writing up config.sys and autoexec.bat files to get strike commander working. It was always asking for more memory and no EMS or some other such thing. And then it wouldn't work for Ultima 8, or WC2, or god knows what other game I had. Ah well, maybe I should pull out Conquest: Frontier Wars or Total Annihilation. Too much flying around in space for me right now............HEY! What the H3ll am I saying?!? There's never too much flying around in space for me. Can you imagine what it would be like if they redid the graphics engine from the original 3 Wing Commanders (maybe even 4 and Privateer) with the Freelancer graphics engine? Maybe make the cap ships and stations larger, though. But definitely keep the original cut-scenes...sheer classic I say! Cheers.

Did you ever even play Tie Fighter? That was a really great game. It's really great how Lucasarts lets you be the emperor's goons. Now if the redid the graphics on that, it would be flying off the shelves.

TIE-Fighter is, IMHO, the best Space-sim ever.
I really wish they would do a (good) sequel to it. hell, it'd be one of my greatest dreams to do it

lol same here. I got Jedi Knight II a few months ago, and it's incredible. The well made, fun sort of thing that we've all come to expect from Lucasarts. And the multiplayer is INCREDIBLE.

I loved Tie Fighter, and I thought X-Wing Alliance was even better.
Jedi Knight II is also one of my favorites.

It was actually Raven who made JK2, and not LucasArts. They're internal development has sadly gone down the drain.

Tie Fighter rocked. I remember the intro for the demo with the Super SD near Coruscant. Awesome stuff, yo. And the anally retentiveness of how many laser shots you fired. BLARGH!!!

I love X-Wing, but never played Tie-Fighter

tie fighter rocked. They did re-release it int he x-wing collectors pack so they run on windows machines better (or at all). I always used to crash out now and then and never be able to run it: "crash overflow" anyone?

tie rocked, by far the coolest of games, playing for the empire rocked just so you could eb a part of the emperors secret order doing the bidding of the dude in the cloak. Shame your missions were just hunting down traitors but a real good story nonetheless.

why hasnt anyone made a stormtrooper first person shooter yet though?

stormtrooper shooter wouldn't make much sense, you'd be dead as soon as you find a rebel, and you'd be unable to hit anything

Post Mon Mar 24, 2003 3:58 pm

maybe a imperial commando shooter then

Post Mon Mar 24, 2003 4:46 pm

Well, that wouldn´t make sense either, because non of them can actually aim
