IMHO... I feel that the Diablo series is not an RPG. It kind of falls into a category like the old Coin Op games that were based off RPGs...

There really is no RPG style to Diablo (I've played it...Feels like a 3rd person shooter)

An RPG in my book, is where you create a character, and level up...

RPGs:

The Bard's Tale Line
Dragon Wars
Wasteland
Baldur's Gate series
Icewind Dale Series
The SSI Gold Box games Forgotten Realms Series
and too many more to list.

Games like Diablo claim to be RPG...But I have yet to really see the RPG stuff in that series.

Putting Magic ans swords in a game, does not make an RPG.

This is my opinion....so if you want to flame me...Go right ahead. It won't change what I think.

In conclusion...Diablo is *NOT* a true RPG...Just like Freelancer isn't.

Not to say Freelancer isn't fun.....I do love it....I have even put aside my brand new copy of MoO3 that I just installed and haven't done really anything with.....

What I forgot to post the first time is that some people blindly call Diablo an RPG...and it's not a true RPG....
