Jump Gate = Wormhole?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. This also the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Jump Gate = Wormhole?

For those of you who have finished the campaign, you are familiar with the jump gate, which is not too unlike those of FreeLancer. Has anyone ever thought of these to be wormholes in spacetime? If so, how could a ship of such a small size ever create enough mass (or energy to convert into mass) to cause a collapse of spacetime on both ends . The fact is, it is impossible, with current knowledge, for a jump gate to function unless the process is initiated on both sides at the same time. Even if that does happen, the intense gravity would mean that it would take several, or even thousands, of years just to cross the wormhole, meaning that anything that goes in, will come out in a completely different (yet the exact same) existance than when they entered.

So what I am trying to say is, jump gates dont work the way they make you think they do.

What's the combination to Capt. Kirk's personal safe on the USS Enterprise?

What does that have to do with anything?

Has anyone seen Event Horizon? I generally apply the theory given in that movie to the warp gates in Starlancer. It makes sense. Failing that, perhaps those mobile jump hole generators are something akin to quantum slipstream and transwarp in Star Trek?

Yeah, but no one can explain how Quantam Slipstream works...just one of the flaws of human mathematics.

No, but there is an explanation of transwarp running around somewhere. And transwarp conduits are established with big hubs, and some Borg can generate their own... very comparable to the warp gate system in SL, don't you think? All we need now is a Trekky to explain it to us, and we're there, lol
