MP might be added in an expasion pack or SF 3

Post Tue May 01, 2007 1:32 pm

whoa he used the bad word.... "might"
microsoft "might" have kept up the SL rooms
ascaron "might" have added a mp aswell
and other gaming companies "might" have done so many other things which never became reality

sry but either it is a "yes" or its a "no" and from the last thing ive heard its a "no"
there is no need to keep up an illusion

we are talking about SF2 here... and not about waiting 1 year for an addon which again we have to buy or a SF3

MP must be ) ;p

Swat you have little hope, this is not mircosoft or anything else, these are competely different people and DSO never had MP planned from what i see.

i believe i have a deja vu atm
there is the same discussion running on my forum ... with exactly the same arguementation including hope

Im a realist.... i hope the best but expect the worst and that they are not like the others is something they first have to prove
looking at the games they developed so far they dont have much experience with mp and net codes yet... not to mention that if you want to turn a sp game into a mp game you have to make heavy changes to the entire engine (which very likely will conflict with the original sp game)

oh and DSO was supposed to be SP only and then ascaron said they might add a MP later... just like its done with SF2 now

Well if it is modable, I am sure someone here will have MP working before to long.

Oblivion was SP only and it now has a MP mod out. I am not sure how good it is I have never tried it. So do not give up on hoping for something. It sounds as if SF2 maybe a little more modable then DSO, which do not like you touching there, game at all. I speak from personal experience with Ascaron.

I'm new to this whole biseness, FL had both mp and Mods. What do mods without MP mean? Does it mean that mods can only be played alone? If so then what's the point of having mods if you can't play them with others?

I love single player side of games and one nice thing about SP is no lag. You can also mod it the way you want it and play it the way you think it should be. Most FL mods are made for MP only very few have SP in mind. There are a few that offer open singleplayer, but not many. There is still a large FL fasn base that play SP yet. I am sure that SF2 will sell good. I plan on picking it up after it comes out a few weeks myself.

@Poojah: The easiest way it to think of the mod and multi play as totally separate issues. If you like Freelancer for example and wanted to play against others you do not necessarily have to play a mod, you could play the original verion in multi player. If however you enjoy the game but wanted to try new aspects such as new systems, ships or weapons then you could modify the original game to suit your own imagination. Combine the two and you have what is most common, the Multi-player modified version.

Freelancer is I suppose rare in that the servers are run privately by fans of the game and rare too in the number of mods done while new release games are marketed by the game producer as a Multi-player and the "mods" are their expansions.

Otherwise...this game certainly looks like it is worth a look. Hopefully it will be playable though as the last time I gave a space sim other than FL a try it was X3 and I gave up on the flight controls after about an hour.

Ok, I've been looking at the Spaceforce2 website, and I can't seem to find any links for a demo or anything. Is the game even finished? I should add that I'm a little jaded after the $50.00 coaster that was DSO (yes, I'm an idiot for actually buying a game even though the demo didn't actually work) and there's no way I'm even gonna go near something till I see a demo.

HAs anyone seen the system requirements to run the game? I looked at their site but found nothing

@GhostShrike1: You don't need a demo simply wait a week or two after it's released then you'll see the rating and can make up your mind from there. I haven't heard of a demo yet and this close to releasing I doubt there'll be one...

Well I'll be waiting for feed back before I buy (No Demo No Buy) I sure hope this is not a flop like DSO was.
