How about an Artifact List?

Any Lancers that have beaten this game, how about making an artifact list? I've been around the net, and most of the sites that feature DSO are in German, and there's only so much that Babel Fish can do ya know? So how about it? Anyone out there that can deal with the multiple crashes to hammer out an Artifact List? Thanks in advance.

Well, as it turns out, we really don't need a list, I thought I was 3 artifacts down. But after I beat the game, I got them. So the only thing I guess I can suggest is what I did. I just hunted down the pirate gangs that are on the News Terminal. You get a good amount of money and a special weapon.

The only different style I've noticed is the different weapons.

I have no idea DSO was even out yet. When did it hit the shelves??

It launched a while ago, but unfortuneatly most of the games support pages are in German. While it is a good game, you gotta run it mostly by yourself. Now, if there are any questions, I could try to help as much as possible, I beat it a few days ago. But the way the game is structured, you don't really need that much help. All the artifacts are displayed on the System map, now it won't tell you if there is more than one in the Pirate controlled systems. So always check your target list before you leave a Pirate Controlled system, just to make sure you got all the artifacts.

The best way I've found to earn money and the best equipment is to land on a trade station and click on the terminal. The right hand option is the news button, and it will give you info on Pirate gangs that roam around in that sector, name of the gang and where they hang out. When you jump to that system, open your target list. The Pirates will be hanging around 1 of 3 places; a Shipwreck, an Anomaly, or a Pirate Hideout. Just target whichever one is in that system and fly towards it. When you get to about 2.0 u away from it, they'll appear and fight you. Its always the same, you get 4-6 Pirate Lackeys first, then 1-3 Pirate Bodyguards, then the Pirate Boss. Killing the Pirate Boss will drop a Special container, it contains a special Secret Service Weapon, either a turrent or a gun. I never got a missle launcher, course I never bought one either, never had the need.

You get a pretty good size amount of money for killing off a pirate gang, plus the special weapon, and the Secret Service weapons are the most powerful of that area, like the Terran Sector has Lasers. And the best part is, you can fight the pirate gangs over and over, after you kill them all, jump out of that section into an adjoining section, after taking care of the pirates in that one, jump back and the previous gangs will be back. Take caution though, the gangs difficulty level will raise every time you fight them. Anyway, thats my formula.

Artifacts, I kept them even when upgrading the DarkStar. I did the Hull, Wings, and Engines in pretty much that order. But to each their own. Anymore questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to help.

I never really had a problem with the Flak missions, all I can suggest is keep an eye on your radar and shoot the drones that are closest to you.

Shoot them from a save place. The nastiest ones I blew up shooting from the tunnel; one by one. Then you advance and hide behind a corner or behind the tubes or similar. Work slowly, save often.
But careful: in the great hall the game will NOT continue (afaik it was patched later) if you kill all the cannons from your shelter.
SPOILER: Just fly as fast as possible to the right lower corner, there you can hide again and shoot the guns and cannons.
