Ship not showing up at dealer

Me and friend have just started making a mod for the two of us to playing with friends over(We might release it on TLR). He makes the models and do the coding.

Currently I'm trying to add the ship so it comes up at the dealer in Manhattan, but it won't show up?

This is what I've done:

made a package for it under goods and cost entry
removed a ship from Manhattan and replaced it with this ship.

Now I know its not the ship as the ship works and all as we tested it by making it the starting ship.

Can anyone help?

If you did everything else correct, did you check the size of the ship?

What do mean by "size of the ship"?

EDIT: I get what you mean is there a way to open up the files freelancer files in milkshape as I've lost the origonals

Can you post your Goods.ini Package and Hull entries?

Remember you've got to use the package that includes the hull in the market file for the ships.

Oh, and thanks for helping me out

Chris, you can check the physical size of your ship by using the hard cmp editor.
With that tool, you can open the cmp file for your ship and view it in 3d wire and textured formats.
If you have to change the size of the ship, FLmodel tool does that job nicely.

Another thing you must also consider is whether or not your shiparch.ini is referencing your ship cmp or 3db file.

I learned from previous mistakes that when I was going to create a 3db file, was to never use the cmp file for that. That requires opening the mat file and then saving it "as" a 3db file. Such a mistake has cause ships not to appear and even sometime cause the game to crash.

@Raknor:

I'll have a go with the hard cmp editor to see if it too big but how will I know if it is too big. Is the a max grid size it can take up? And I'll download FLmodel.

I'll report back

there could be a chance your ship might be too small. But, you'll find out soon enough one way or the other.

I checked the code for any spelling mistakes and corrected them I also converted everything to lowercase and resized the ship but the ship still doesn't work in ship dealer

Have any more ideas?

can u post ur market_ship.ini entries please

Post Wed Jul 25, 2007 1:19 pm

This may seem a little silly to ask this..
but...
check your SHIPS folder and make sure you have your ship folder in it.
In that folder, make sure you have the cmp, mat & 3db file.
Depending on where your cockpit.ini is kept, just make sure it and the ship is correctly reference in the shiparch.ini .

there are areas (or files) that the ship must be declared in and referenced to.
SHIPS folder:
shiparch.ini (this declares where the cmp, mat, 3db and cockpit files are that the game can find them) As well as describes the ship stats, what can be mounted on it and references the ids names & info.
-----------------------------------------
EQUIPMENT folder:
goods.ini (Two entries for your ship. One is the price of the basic hull and the other declares what mounted equipment is "added on" to the price of the ship)

marketships.ini (declares where you ship is sold)

loadouts.ini (declares what is mounted on your ship when it's bought)

IMPORTANT! Make sure the spelling is the same for all your entries.
