you loosing patience? what should i say after almost 200 ppl didnt read the installation instructions which say:

use FLMM 1.31 (not 1.4)
use a clean installation of FL

oh and FLMM backup doesnt really work like many things with FLMM
and i doubt that you cant delete those files now... they just were blocked because they were loaded into memory when you launched the game

OP-R8R is right.
You MUST accomplish a brand new "CLEAN" install of Freelancer.
Files from the other mods have corrupted what you've got.
(incompatability issues)
Now...if some genius can come up with an idea that would "standardize" information between different mods...more mods would be actually compatable.
BUT, then again...that would sort of muck up individuality.

@Op, on light of so many ummm non read threads on the subject, maybe a sticky with the wording, "Answers to Crossfire mod problems."

i have the feeling that even a pop up with the biggest font available would just been clicked away unread by the majority

i have sticked thread on my forum... but guess what... in the past weeks somewhat between 50 and 100 new threads were opened by new players which ignored the installation instruction
i mean hmm i could paint a path.... the first installation instruction is here on LR at the mods description (just before the download does start) -> 1st missed chance to read it
then it can be read in the mods readme -> 2nd missed chance to read it
then it can be read in FLMM -> 3rd missed chance to read
thats the point where 2 things can happen:
either those ppl go to the place where they downloaded the mod (which is not always the best choice since CF can also be downloaded via torrent... and there they wont even get an answer if they ask)
or they go to the place where the mod was developed (the crossfire site)... and there they will find another installation instruction but guess what -> 4th missed chance (and the funny thing is... those ppl which went there must have got the url either from the download section here at LR or from the readme of the mod... in both cases the chance to see the installation instruction must have been very high)
ok and finally they end up on my forum (fine) and they miss their 5th chance by ignoring the sticked or all other active threads about the same topic O_o

what do we learn out of this?
people who can read have an advantage

the funny thing is that all the trouble isnt because of the mod itself... the trouble is because of the 3d sound probs that FL does have... a not correctly working FLMM or not deleted savegames (if i remember right FLMM should move those to a different directory when a mod is activated)

i guess ill go on playing this funny game with those that didnt read the instructions
User: "but i used FLMM 1.4!"
OP: "what does the manual say?"
User: "use FLMM 1.31"
OP: "which version did i tell you to use?"
User: "1.31"
OP: "and why in gods name did you use FLMM 1.4 then?"
User: *silence*

(no joke - i had such a discussion not long ago)

well - thx to bp and the others which help to answer such threads and help these guys before I ...

Just as a hint for FL install issues. I suggest to keep a second install of FL (by the Express install option in the setup). If the main one stopw working, just overwrite it by this backup. Thats how I do, and it allways worked.
