Crossfire Mod V1.70

Here's the error message: Error: problem activating 'Crossfire Mod 1.70 Client Edition'
Error: SHCopyFile failed ('I:\Freelancer\Data\Missions\M01B\m01b_11.thn.flmmbak' to 'I:\Freelancer\Data\Missions\M01B\m01b_11.thn')

I removed the mod at first because it was unbalanced(The enemies had WAY too much power, if you have to trade until you can get better weapons, then yes, that is giving the enemies too much power.) Then I tried to reinstall it, but each time I get this message. I have not been able to report it before because FMM would freeze before I could copy the words.

This one has been answered several times by Bakepotato.

1... Deactivate any Mod's in the Freelancer Mod Manager if you have activated any.

2... Delete your Freelancer folder located at
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer
* I'll say this again... Delete your Freelancer folder instead of uninstalling Freelancer to make sure there are no files that sometimes can get left behind after an uninstall, unless you check to make sure there are no files left in the Freelancer folders after you do a uninstall...

3... Delete or move any previous saved games... move the saved games to a new folder or delete all the files in your saved games folders.
Saved games are located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts
Both, the Singleplayer and Multiplayer folders.
If you play online Multiplayer the saved characters are saved by the server you play on.
If you don't move or delete your saved games they can cause a conflict and will make Freelancer crash, this is guaranteed!
Why? Because there will be new ships, equipment and other goodies that will not be in your saved game files...

* When you activate a Mod you will need to start a new game.

4... Install Freelancer again with the Freelancer CD.

At this point I usually say to install the Freelancer QuickFix by Louva-Deus after you re-install Freelancer and before you activate the Mod but with the Crossfire Mod this step is not necessary because SWAT_OP-R8R already has it included in the Mod.....

5... Then activate the Mod using the Freelancer Mod Manager v1.3

sorry OP-R8R- I have flmm 1.31, I've done a clean install multiple times, I've tried reinstalling the mod several times, but this little bugger wont go away!

Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\openspcontent.dll.flmmbak' to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\DLLS\BIN\content.dll')

can i do it manually? what should I use to open the dll? or is it an overwrite thing?

Post Sun Apr 08, 2007 2:54 am

no it cant be done manually

this error does only appear with other version of flmm because they cant handle the scripts and if write protected files are in the FL directory (which happends if you used other mods before) therefore a clean installation is required

other error sources dont exist

tried it twice more, completley clean install, flmm 1.31, maybe it's a computer thing...

Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\openspcontent.dll.flmmbak' to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\DLLS\BIN\content.dll')

what does that do?

Post Sun Apr 08, 2007 8:50 am

You have done the eraser of the folder as well? And any saved games?

Post Sun Apr 08, 2007 8:57 am

yes deleted the entire folder in my games.

Post Sun Apr 08, 2007 1:04 pm

dunno why it makes problems for you since for every1 else the clean installtion and flmm 1.31 was enough

but you could try changing the SP option that comes up (SP/OpenSP)

Post Sun Apr 08, 2007 4:52 pm

I've tried both, but for the last two installations FL has mentioned something about me not having a 600 mhz processor, but that shouldn't make a difference (i think) the game still runs fine, maybe it's just a thing, like some of those other mods that only worked for some people. what does spcommon.dll do? If i don't restore backups it comes up with a window asking to start crossfire, but then it crashes when i click the button.
