Greetings

Hello, all. Freelancer is ceratinly one of the greatest games I've ever played, and I'm perplexed by Microsoft's decision not to do a sequel.

I've often considered trying online play, but I've been put off by the following problems-

1. I live in the West Highlands of Scotland and our village doesn't yet have broadband access- is there any point in playing the game on dialup? Or would the lag be simply too severe?

2. I haven't the first idea of which server to join, even if the game *is* playable on dial-up.

Sorry if this isn't the place for these questions. Thanks in advance for any advice.

cheers,

pete

Microsoft is not making FL2 because of censored reasons.

However we are at http://www.Openlancer.com

no one really knows why not - anyways, i would say if you have a truly good dialup connection its playable online but you won't be winning any server tournaments - if however you have a 14k dialup its just too laggy to play online - MODs can't be played on any dialup connection, due to the overhead involved when you add more and more ships/equipment - but "vanilla" freelancer 1.0/1.1 is ok on a 56k connection

Thanks for the advice! It seems OK on 56k dialup- ping is about 260 at best, though- that still seems very high.

Any advice about good 1.1 servers?

All the best,

pete
